I have gotten some new toys this week. On Tuesday my Laser arrived. I now have my own Epilog Legend 32 35 watt laser. My cutting bed is 32x20 so now I can cut a few more sheets of wood at a faster rate.
The second toy to arrive was from Stuart at Hobby King. I recieved one of their 6 in 1 tools. I will be using the lathe portion to turn a few aluminum parts I need for one of my planes. I am looking forward to playing with this little lathe. It is like the Unimat tool. I did a test turn on a piece of hardwood they supplied with the kit. The head turned true and I did not even use anything to check center. I chucked up the wood and screwed down the live dead center. Everything seemed to work perfectly and after I finished I checked for being out of round. It was perfect, so now to get some good tooling for the lathe and I will be doing some machining of small parts.

Well today is the day. The best model I have designed to date is going to make its Debute today. No its not a model airplane, its a genetic copy of myself and his mother. My little boy will be coming some time today. now I have a building buddy and someone I can teach to appreciate the model airplanes I like to design and build.

I have had my Corsair for a few years now and have gone through 3 or 4 wings an couple horizontal stabs and one fuse. I upgraded the power to the 15 size motor out of the Apprentice. I am using the 3 blade prop from the PZ BF109 and it screams.
Latest modification. I bought a new wing because the LG mount broke and I like to ROG. Well I was thinking because this plane now is pretty fast on landing I wanted to add flaps. I did some research on how others did thiers and now have flaps on mine. I will ad pictures and video tomorrow on how they are linked and work. Still need to remaiden her with the new mods and see how she does.

I was able to make a deal for a couple pieces of equipment that I will be putting into my garage.
The first piece I picked up was an older dovetail J-head Bridgeport milling machine. I wanted something like it but perhaps not as big for some time. My intention is to start making some small parts for model airplanes that I design. I pondered how I would maybe make struts and other parts when I was given the opportunity to also get a Clausing lathe. Now that was something I really wanted as well and struck a deal to get that as well. So now I need to get the machines moved and put into my garage. Then start doing the electrical to get them working so I can start playing around and make some small parts. I think at first I will start out with something simple to create and then move from there onto new parts that people might want or need for airplanes.

This morning I learned from Zeke the the wood is on the way for the Vought V-173 . Also included in that box are 3 other kits. I am definatly looking forward to getting my LoLO as well as my SE5a. But the main focus will be on the kit I designed and hope to ambitiously have together and flight ready by September 10th I only hope all parts arrive on time for this to happen. I have ordered all the balsa I will need as well as the servo-less landing gear. Next up is the motors and I will have collected everything. This is ambitious I know, but by pushing myself I know I can do it and then relax for a few seconds. Ok off to watch for brown to get here so I can begin playing with wood

For the past month I have been busy designing planes. I currently have two designs I am working on. I like working on obscure planes that were built but never made it to production. At present I have most of the work done on a Vultee XP-54 Swoose Goose. I have gone through several drawings of this plane and am now redoing the wing structure for a third time. I am reasonably satisfied with the fuse as well as the tail booms.
The second design I will post when completed and after her maiden flight at NEAT. As some of you know I am makeing slow progress on the V-173. I just have to wait out the arrival of the laser cut kit to begin again, but my main goal is getting this new design functional and flight ready in the next 6 weeks. After that I will begin posting the build log as well as video of the maiden flight.
