I get asked the same questions so often about my FPV ground station setup that I figured it would be easier to create a thread with the info so that folks can find it instead of having to wait for my replies. This is my recipe for a few different ground station setups, two of which I use personally. It includes a 5.8GHz and 1.2GHz setup, with or without diversity, and tips/tricks/suggestions.

Note: In the information below VTX = Video Transmitter and VRX = Video Reciever.

Starter 1.2GHz Ground Station:
1.3 GHz 1200-1360MHz SPW12 RCHP Skew Planar Wheel Antenna $44.99 (Omni Antenna)
1.3GHz Receiver w/SAW Upgrade (V3 with 1258 MHz!) $79.99 (ONE OF THESE)
Goggles or a monitor plugged directly into the Video/Audio out jacks of the 1.3GHz Receiver listed above.
3S Lipo battery with a lipo alarm connected to alert you in case the voltage gets too low.
Mount all this to a stable Camera Tripod.
Tada, $125.00 1.2GHz ground station that will get you very nice range. Plus it makes it seamless if you decide you want to go to a diversity setup since you use these parts without having to switch to other stuff.

I wanted to use a DragonLink UHF Receiver with a Naza setup via PPM. Since Naza supports the PPM channel ordering of Futaba and not DragonLink, neither my trusty old JR XP7202 or XP8103 could remap/reconfig the PPM channels. Which stinks because I love that XP7202. So, I had to go with a Turnigy TGY9x transmitter reflashed with the ER9x firmware. Which by the way ended up being incredibly versatile and robust. And, since the setup proved to be somewhat tricky I decided to post it up here...

a) In case someone else was trying to do the same thing.
b) For the selfish reason that I can find it if my black hole of a brain loses it.

1. Setup a new model and call it whatever you want. For this example we'll call it "Penguin". Why, because penguins kick a**.
2. Go into the model setup for the model you just created.
3. Right Scroll to "Templates" page (10/10).
4. Scroll down to "Channel Order" and change it to "AETR".
5. Scroll up to "01 Simple 4-CH" and press the menu button to accept it.
6. Left scroll to "Setup 01" page (2/10).
7. Change Proto PPM to "12CH 300uSec".
8. Change PPM FrLen to 22.5mSec (If it is not already set).
9. Go to the "Mixer" Page (5/10).
10. Channel 1-4 Should be 100% and respectively AIL,ELE,THR,RUD.
11. Scroll down to CH6 and create a new mix. Modify as follows.
- Source = FULL
- Weight = -100 (That is negative one hundred).
- Switch = ELE

This is my recipe for an affordable Hexa with options if people want to go up or down in quality/price. It includes options for FPV and AP as well as tips/tricks/suggestions.

HansAuf Suggested Affordable HEXA FPV/AP Setup

DJI F550 or the Clone Frame below. This provides the most bang for the buck Hexa setup. Frame is easy to work on and power distribution board is integrated into the frame.

Multicopter SM550 V2 Frame Black/Red $39.99
Multicopter White Arm For SM450/550 (Need 2 of these) - $4.99 each
(I suggest these extra arms because the frame above has 3 red and 3 black arms. Swapping one of each color allows for better orientation)

(Need 6 pieces)
Note: These are motor "Choices". If you don't want to carry a large gimbal and are just going to be carrying a GoPro, you don't likely need the Avroto motors and a huge battery. You would literally be amazed at how much the $15 Turnigy motors listed will carry without a problem.
