There's not a mark on the Rx or antenna and it works OK but I replaced the Xtal as a precaution.

As a rule, is it be better to replace the Rx (Berg 7) as well as the Xtal.

I just purchased this kit in the blind, I was looking for 5.5x5.5 props, and it looked interesting. My initial choice was the K&A Evolution 400, which the dealer listed as being in stock, but wasn't, so I opted for this.

It looks ok, I am planning to put a Six-Series 2000kV in it. It looks like I'll need to widen the fuse 1/8" or so to accept a Rhino 1350.

My question - There seems to be no info on this kit anywhere! I always run into the mini Graupner Sprint 400 when looking through the few search results..

I realize the kit is probably 10-12 years old, but it looks like a nice 100mph plane. I was hoping someone here had a story about their K&A Sprint, or some info on its history.

Thanks,
Dave

I'm just curious, how many of you are fed up with the differences in packs requiring different balancing taps? Is there some reason why the packs can't have a single and universal balance tap? I understand a difference with respect to pack size, (3s vs 6s etc.) but I don't understand why we have to have a different tap for different manufacturers. E-Flight vs. ThunderPower vs. FlightPower vs. Hyperion vs etc. etc. etc. MaxAmps lists 6 different taps and I don't know what the other vendors have.

This just seems foolish to me. If it is indeed foolish, why are we putting up with it?

The difference in taps just requires the charger mfgs. to tack on additional costs to accommodate different brands and pass those costs onto the consumer. Am I totally off base here?
I asked him why and he said 2 recalls in a year was enough for him, and he wasn't restocking for awhile. I looked at the dx7 and it was $340. I was not willing to put out this kind of money for a tx, and to tell you the truth i would never use all 20 models. He said that one of the reasons for recall was that they could catch on fire, and one actually did in the shop. I was just wondering if the dx6i was a good tx and if horizonhobby fixed the problem.

I have been looking at larger planes lately - want to do a big electric. I want something that can run on 10 to 12 cells Lipo - I don't really want to do A123, but willing to explore that option, as I do have a charger that can handle those.

I've been looking in the .90-1.20 size - reason is, I want something impressive, and unusual. Electric .60s have "been done" and I'd really like to go bigger. Budget is a consideration, so I'm looking for less expensive kits.

I've been looking at this Aeroworks Yak-54 - but I would really like an Extra 300 this same size. I just can't find one - I don't want to build from a kit and would really like a quality ARF - Aero-works quality if possible.

http://www.aero-works.net/store/detail.aspx?ID=288

Sooo... does anyone know of an Extra 300 or 330 in this size? The price of the Aero-works is fine, it's just not an Extra 300. I don't know how the Yak-54 flies and not sure I would like it or not. Does it fly good? Does anyone know how it compares to the Extra?

Ok so my super cub lp is giving me trouble. I have the trim all the way left on the transmitter because that makes the rudder level. I had a crash and the tail section broke off. I glued it back on and wrapped the plane in a layer of packing tape. (length ways). When i repaired it i twisted the little end that connects to the control horn to make the rod a tad smaller. This was so i could have the trim for the rudder in the middle. I trimmed it and got the rudder in the middle. I flew the plane today and the plane was moving a little left but i had the stick all the way right and the tail was moving in the direction it should have been. The wind was going a little but not so much that it almost wouldn't turn right. I checked the CG and it was fine. How should I trim the plane?
I would like to change the V dihedral to a polyhedral like the Old Timer planes. Would this change the flight performance in a negative way. I am trying to make the plane resemble an Old Timer while taking advantage of modern building design and a flat bottomed airfoil. I prefer a slow floating glide over speed or aerobatic ability.
If I decide to go with a polyhedral, where is the best place to make the dihedral break. Thank you

hi there just to get things rolling,
i recently bought a firebird phantom as a begginers plane. i learnt how to fly it and then began learning aerobatics (if you can call it that) however after a rather quick and harsh encounter with the ground my firebird phantom soon learned that it CANNOT fly inverted. after a close inspection it became apparent that the crash had made the two servo motors on the circuit board to come free. after a repair i tested them they twitched like mad! so i decided to take it apart and put some real servos and a proper speed control and a more powerful motor. although after a test of the electronics i found that for some reason the motor dosent seem to want to turn. its not the transmitter or the reiceiver. but if anyone could give me guidance it would be much apreciated.

on this plane? I have done a search here on it with very little info on it, which is surprising since it seems to be a very nice looking bipe with an even more attractive price tag of $99.00 for the ARF.

I still haven't found a simple, cheap way to implement light, adjustable pushrods for small parkflyers. (Eg., my latest "Firefly" with AUW of 6.5 oz. or so.)

I'm talking about pushrods made of, say, .040" diameter piano wire (or even smaller diameter.) I figure one end can always be a simple Z-bend. But what about the other end? No matter how precisely I measure it, I still end up needing a few millimeters of adjustment.

EZ Connectors will do, but seem klunky. I've also used Du-Bro micro ball-joint connectors, but that seems like overkill if the goal is simply to provide a length adjustment.

I was thinking more like nylon clevises -- but these would need to be threaded, right? And so the pushrod itself would need to have a thread cut into it with just the right die, right? Or do you solder a threaded sleeve onto the pushrod??

Hoping someone can point me to a simple system...

I have all set up correctly with 4 channels, electric motor, ailerons, elevator, and rudder. All work correctly however when I increase the motor speed the rudder and elevator move? Elevator starts going up and the faster the motor goes the more it moves up. The rudder does the same thing moving to the right? No effect on the ailerons they work fine. I have separated out all the wires and antenna to check for interference no difference. This does not happen from slow to med motor speed but increasing the speed from that point this starts to happen...Any hints? I have not yet programed the ESC but I do not believe that would be the cause?...Thanks for any support you can be.............Lee

I found a European company with a new one-person piloted airplane. Via liquid hydrogen, a fuel cell and underwing liquid hydrogen fuel pods, it's capable of over 2,000 miles aloft at 85-100 knots airspeed. Then it must land for more liquid hydrogen.

One other liquid hydrogen Airframe & Powerplant design exists & is NOT yet commercially available. It's a flying-wing UAV drone "Airframe". The "Powerplant" is a fuel cell, 500 grams liquid hydrogen and one electric motor. It stays aloft for over 10 hours before it must land for more fuel.

Is anybody out there interested in helping me CAD design this, build it and offer it for sale?

With much more time aloft and a far wider search radius, the Coast Guard and other Search & Rescue groups will surely thank us for this new telemetry operated UAV [digital & infrared heat/night vision] Camera Drone.

Me? I'm a former U.S. Air Force C-141 & C-5 heavy-airlift jet cargo plane mechanic with a penchant for efficiency, renewables & advanced technology Electric Vehicles. At age 42, I'm now looking for a minority or majority interest in a VERY profitable new [ R/C model, UAV or piloted ] aviation innovation venture.

Pertinent Points to Ponder:

* Liquid hydrogen's got almost 3-times more BTU value, pound-for-pound, compared with AVGAS, Jet-A, JP-4, JP-8 and gasoline.

* Fuel cells are 1.5 to 2.5 times more efficient than internal combustion engines

* PWM, electronically controlled EV electric propulsion motors have few if any drivetrain efficiency losses

I've got this B-29 Air Warrior, and I want to know if the electrical stuff can be modified. As you can probably tell aready, I am in no way an electrical guru...or even a very good novice.:)

In its current factory configuration, the plane is a 4-engine setup that flies strictly by what the engines are doing----there are no working control surfaces. Engine speed controls your altitude, and steering is accomplished by differential thrust (the engines on one wing speed up to turn the plane)

I was wondering if it is possible to convert the existing receiver to control a servo instead of controlling engine speed when applying a "turn" command. There are four wires going to the wing (1 black, 2 red, 1 blue). They attach to the wing, and plug into a small print board that then distributes power to the 4 engines. I'm wondering if I can remove two of the wires and connect them to a servo, but I don't know if that's the way the whole thing is wired. Has anyone ever done this before?
