I mentioned this in passing in another thread, but this month's ModellWerft magazine has an article about a 1:200 LCS-1, where the builder designed and laser-cut his own parts... I haven't finished decoding the German, but it looks like he offers a plan sheet, don't know if he sells lasered parts though...

Cardboard models are popular in Europe... this one is 1:20 scale, 53 cm long (about 21"). They claim it can be R/C'd. $40 euro is about US$60.

I'm tired to search the web... Can't find it... I've found a little info just like the length of 81.1 ft and beam of 24ft, is it true?

I have Pictures and measurements for the tug, and i was wondering if some one on there spare time could draw or sketch roughly how the hull ribs would be so i can just take them and put them to wood... and or how should i build this, if any one has tips, and info and pointers that would be amazingly appreciated.

We'll I started cutting the wood today.... I am actually going to build 3 at the same time.

One will be the 25" kit from dumas and will be a static display.

for the other two the plans are getting enlarged and it will be a 1:12 scale functioning boat. 40" long

the kit is a replica of 1930's ere Sedan Cruiser Built by the Vineyard Shipyard in Milford DE. One of my family friends now owns the defunct shipyard and has purchased several boats for restoration.

I am not new to RC, I used to fly but my current real is RC sailing in 1/2 different classes from the diminutive footy to the 58" long ec12 class.

This will be my first power boat/scratch build...

I have already started bookmarking all the neat sites for hardware and such...

Hi all couple of weeks ago while at the Hobby show in Missisauga Ontario i purchased a Spectrum DX6i 2.4GHZ 6 ch radio system to install into my scale electric boats . What kind of sucess are boaters having with the DX6i ? Alot of reading to do to get through the 137 pg owners manual when compared to when i purchased my Futaba 6FG back in the mid 1980's having a 16 pg manual. Regards Andris Golts.

Alert PROBLEMS with PRO BOAT SPEED CONTROL

:)Hi guys and gals. I am posing this question about a problem which has been growing over the last few months, about a product, that a lot of you on this forum have mentioned in your various threads. The reason for this query is that I have also had issues, which have been growing in frequency over the last eight months, with this product, the PRO BOAT electronic speed control (blue one rated from 7.2 to 12 volts0.

Any one who has issues with this speed control, it would be greatly appreciated if you would post the problems you have had with the speed control and was it reported to HORIZON HOBBY, Pro Boat section. My company has been a major distributor of this speed control for the past eight years, and although it was an outstanding speed control for the price in the very beginning we have noticed a marked down turn in the reliability of the units in the recent past and have taken up the question with HORIZON about the problem as we see it with no real response from them. It is our feeling that components have been changed in the speed control since it was first introduced with out notification to the distributors and the end user.

With our last inquiry to HORIZON, they said that they would look into the mater and get back to me, but in the mean time to send any failed speed controls back to them for inspection to see if the problem lies with the manufacture of the speed control and if so to have it rectified.

We will be posting a notice of failure of this product on our web site, and let our customers know in advance to their purchase of this product, that problems have arisen with the product. The reason we request your help is that we will have a broad base of end users customers to confront HORIZON that there is indeed a problem with this product.

Than you in advance for your help in this matter.

Help! Fiberglassing my Lobster Yacht

Well I planked my Midwest Lobster Yacht. I got it all sanded out to my liking. I had a few issues. The directions said to leave a 1/4" lip above the deck to avoid resin getting on the deck. During sanding I kept inadvertently handling it in a way that I would crack pieces of the overhanging planking off. But I got it on & got it looking pretty good.

My advice to anyone glassing their first boat is to read Pat Matthew's chapter in mahogany in scale or Pat Tritle's thread on same BEFORE you glass your hull rather than after as I did.

I used the cloth that came with the kit & 30 min Zpoxy. I think I should have scraped some of the resin off before it cured. I have a pretty bumpy surface now and I can see that some of the cloth has "floated" up higher than I would like. Directions say to be careful not to sand through the cloth but I got the impression from Pat's book that a couple of spots here and there won't hurt the integrity of the hull. There seems to be difference of opinion on thinning. I found the Zpoxy to go on pretty smooth & per Pat Tritle's description of proper consistency without thinning (he was using west systems though). Pat M said to expect a bumpy surface on the first layer but I think mine is more bumpy & some of the glass is at the top of the bumps.

Is my best bet at this point to sand, add layers of resin, sand, resin, etc. till I get it smooth? Not worry about going through the cloth? Get it close and use some sort of filler? Any tips on smoothing out my hull?

Anyone know, for my own future reference, what the weight of the cloth that comes with the lobster yacht kit is?

News 1/96 Scale Warship Run, San Diego, CA December 5, 2009

There will be a TF-96 / 8th Fleet Gathering at Santee Lakes, Santee CA. on Saturday Dec 5 2009. It is our 14th annual Pearl Harbor Remembrance Fleet Run.

This has become our main event of the year with Captains coming from Northern California, Nevada and Arizona, Colorado and of course from all parts of Southern California.

All 1:96 / 1:100 scale ships are invited to come out, completed or not; in fact these events have come to be known as "Incomplete Fleet Runs"

To get to Santee Lakes, take the 52 freeway east from the San Diego area to Mast Blvd. Exit off Mast and turn left under the freeway, continue on Mast (35 MPH) about 4 miles to Fanita Parkway, and turn right. The entrance to the park will be on your right, go through the gate and turn right. There is a $4.00 fee per car charged by the Park to enter.

You will make a semi U-Turn to your left after paying the toll and proceed to your left between Lake #1 and #2.

We set up under the Mast Blvd Bridge on the far side of Lake #2.

Everyone is invited to attend, but we do ask you limit the models you bring to this particular event to 1/96 and 1/100 scale. It is a great chance to learn more about this hobby, and see some very nice work.

The Nov.2009 issue of Railroad Model Craftsman mag. has a nice article on P. 67 about modifying two of the littlle Lindberg tug kits into one railroad tug with a longer cabin and higher pilothouse. Its just a static model but theres useful info there.

Hello , I have started the rc conversion of the famous schnellboot of Italeri this summer. As I have opened and studied the plans I then began the construction and till now I have managed to install everything concearning the r/c functions. And here is where the problems start. I have lost the construction plans and I am not able to go on with the project ! I feel really embarassed asking for plans but there is no other solution. If anyone has the plans (it would be better if the were in pdf format) please help me ! :(:(:(

Help! motor volts

I am restoring a 1/20 Higgins PT, the installed motors are ASTRO-15, when tested with a new,fresh charged 6 cell battery the motors do not seem to have much power, brushes look good and armature is clean, was told they are 6-V/ by others 12-V, tried 2- 6 cells in series, pulled around 17 amps, my question is are they 6 or 12 motors? all test on bench.

I got this tug off E-Pay a few months back, only because it has a molded Blue Hull, all the others I have seen are brown, Any help with this? The Green tug is my Hartman Little toot, they are exactly the same hull. :confused:

Hi I just put this on the sail boat side being a little slow I did not think of the scale boat side I recently acquired a half model of a steam fishing trawler it's called the Vito the original was built by McCall boats in Irving in 1889 it is diffinitely European with the bridge aft and a long hold and what are probably crews quarters forwaward with hoisting gear any one have any info about this boat or ideas where I can get info it was damaged in a fall and I am attempting to repair it the are parts missing ie rudder prop some deck fiiting etc.any help would be greatly appreciated Doug
