Discussion New to the forum!! One question??

I'm new to the forum and wanted to say "hi".
Also, I would like to get into the motorcycles. I ride but nothing that small. ha
My only question is "what is the best one to get?" Let's put money aside. If there's an area on the forum I've missed regarding questions for newbs about motorcycles, please let me know? I know absolutely nothing about rc bikes. So, the best way to put it is...what would you buy if you were to buy your first rc bike, knowing what you know now? Thanks guys, Kelly :confused:

For lipos etc you shouldnt discharge below a certain voltage.
I have Mclarney daytona and plan to first use cheap mtroniks esc the viper eoc27 and a silver can, this will be my first on road 1/5th scale so best start slow.
Now I want to use my life/a123 packs that i have for my cars and they can not go below 4v.
so would something like this work? even though it says it for reciever battery monitoring same thing surely?

Set it at 4.8v then i will never ruin my packs?
any reason why it wouldnt work ?

EDIT: having read it more carefully the switch is for setting the voltage off the battery used not the low voltage point doh!
Is there anything out there that can do what im after? or do i just need to buy proper expensive esc with lipo cut off built in?

I'm new to the R/C motorcycles. I have been in R/C for practically all my life, but not till after Grad school have I really had a chance to get really into racing competitively. And not until the other day did I decide to get into the bikes. Saw a Couple of vids on youtube of World events, and really love the wa they looked.

Finaly took a look at all the choices and decided to start off on the TTn. Not a beginner to Nitro so not too worried bout this aspect.

First things:
1. take a look at the steering damper
2. get the front break, improved handling right?
3. Deal with the tank, I understand there are probs w/ the tank leaking
4. change tyres

NOW FOR THE QUESTIONS:should I consider aftermarket parts like:

1. RD logics forks? or are they no better than stock?
2. Alleven Microdrive: does this have a purpose other than change the final drive ratio?

Just some starter questions, I think those questions are the major ones as I'm just getting to dab into this and also would like to have the bike perform well enough to get others into this class for racing. But I got to have the bike as reliable as possible to improve my learning curve and impress all the people down at my track.

I've got several Kyosho HOR's and I like them very much. I've been holding off getting a Venom, but THE PRICES ARE DOWN TO $150...and even lower. That's for NEW IN THE BOX TOO.

Does anyone know what's happening? I may not be able to hold off much longer.

what kind of shock oil should i use in the rear shock? i bent a shock shaft and rebuilt it. its a stock NF 501 rear shock. i ask because it is very thick and i didnt find anything near this thickness at my LHS..

Rant Spektrum DX3S- no good for bikes

Hey guys, sorry if I'm repeating info already posted here....

I just bought a new Spektrum DX3S, rushed home to intall it... looked at all the fancy functions, including the telemetry (real time rpm, temp,) changed the rubber grip on the handle for a more comfy one( supplied)..... did all the things you do when you've got a new toy.... looked at the stickers !!!!! :D

And then I spent the next hour or so trying to mix the AUX channel (to use the for the brake servo) with the THROTTLE.... and thought to myself... all this :censored: money and and all these :censored: functions, and I still can't get this piece of :censored: to work...!!!!!!

I went to the shop I bought it from today.... guess what ??? the radio is pre programed to mix only the steering with the AUX channel (for the use of a second steering servo).....:eek:

and unfortunatly this lack of adjustment isn't listed anywhere, except for the manual... which you don't read that far ahead until the radio is installed...

So to all you guys who already know this... you probably think I'm a goose...

to everyone else..... don't buy DX3S....(not if you plan to use in a bike anyway)

the shop is doing a straight swap with me for the even more expensive( didn't think that was possable) DX3R....( R is for RACING..[must be good]) this system has more adjustability and functions.... but with out the telemetry....(don't think I would use that anyway)

I hope this little blurb will save someone else the pain in the butt that it's caused me......

well im pretty sure that i will be going. now i know i dont have a chance in hell to even place near 10th. but can i particapate even though i have no racing record in the USA? and would you guys that are going,(stubby, mp,etc.) can i hook up with you while there because i will be alone? do they have qualifying rounds? then i guess if i qualify then i can race right?...you must understand that 5th bikes have taken over my life and it is all i care about...i have references if needed, im a really laid back guy and know when to keep my mouth shut:D.even if i cant race i still will be going regardless.i have been to europe twice in the past few years with work so i know whats up with traveling over seas...mike

Discussion Possible Radio Damage?

Well, due to my stupid ignorance I accidentally left my Venom VR3T radio turned on for 3 hours on the floor...:censored: The voltage reading dropped by 2 volts and the back is a little hot but so far everything seems to be working correctly (at startup of everything checks out OK). Anyways I was just wondering how resistant the circuitry is when being turned on for so long? Could it have overheated something inside that I'm not aware of?

Im going to be running a 19t brushed motor and esc,(brushless seems to powerful for the gyro,also trying to keep the cost down)

And was wondering if the 25c 4000mah 2s hardcase lipos i`ve got would be up to the job?

Also i`ll have to get a low battery warning device does anyone know of one that makes a noise when cells are low?
