I have about 30 warbirds in my active plane collection, of which some are GWS models. I have always thought they were great values and had pretty good detail (except for those silly looking wheels you ship them with) and I always have a good time at the field when I bring my P40, and my Corsair.

Seems to me that it has been quite a while since any new birds have come out - or at least garnered much attention from the parkflyer community - and I can't help think that GWS needs get something new on the shelves pretty quick or they will become one of those "bargain brand" kit providers that have stale and outdated offerings and little serious RC jockey followings....

Maybe it's time to kick out something other than the standard, over modeled WW2 offerings and go for something a bit more rare in order to create a buzz?

Discussion Charging the Ni-MH for the first time

I have a NiMH 9.,6v AAA750mah batter that is going to be driving an ICS 400 inside an A-10 with two EDF 55. I have access to two types of chargers.

A GWS-MC2002 and a Hobbico AC/DC Auto Charger 900.

Charging the battery with the MC2002 until it went to trickel resulted in abount 10 seconds of thrust (if that). Can't say how long the battery was charging, maybe 20 minutes.

I know I need to slow burn the battery in, but what type of changer do I need to put the power into the battery to get longer thrust times.

Or, what type of battery can I get to do the job. There are 1600mah batteries...

Whoops! GWS Spitfire Rudder Horn Hitting Elevator

Was getting ready to put radio equipment in a GWS Spitfire when I saw the rudder horn catch on the elevator. Looks like I will have to pull out the horn and drop it down 1/2" so it does not hang up on the elevator.

Idea What GWS Fans would hope to see in 2010

I have closed the 2009 thread and started this one.
I thought 2009 was the worst year for GWS :( I hope 2010 will be GREAT.

Since I started this thread, I would beg Mr. Lin to make 2010 a great year for GWS.:)
He can start by releasing new aircraft like a foam WWI Bipe.:D

Build Log Me-109 / Ki-61 Conversion Project

I love Japanese WWII aircraft, and decided to convert a GWS-109 into a Ki-61 Hien "Tony" as a hangar mate for my GWS Zero. Obviously it is not going to be a scale replica, but I want it to look Tony-like. The mods I decided that are needed are:

Rounded wing tips
Main landing gear relocated
Slightly longer nose with more taper on top, remove 109 oil cooler on bottom
Canopy need to be redone (not sure how to tackle this yet)
Add radiator on bottom fuselage
Move horizontal stab down and reshape
Make vertical stab taller and rudder narrower
Make rear fuselage thicker

Discussion No more yellow Tigermoth?

I have heard from a couple of different people that the Tigermoth was no longer going to be made in yellow? Only white?

While I do like being able to get them unpainted I also like being able to get them in yellow.

When I get people started learning to fly I use the Pico Tigermoth. And for that I prefer the yellow. It is easy to see and looks good on their first plane to boot.

So what is the scoop? No more yellow? Or is the only talk?

Help! GWS revised retracts?

Question GWS P-51D Mustand Canopy Replacement?

I had a bit of a wild landing while flying in some semi-strong winds today (totally my fault). But my canopy accidentally came off in mid-flight today and landed somewhere in a huge somewhat grown in cranberry bog and after searching, I just couldn't find it.

Long story short, where do I go to order a replacement canopy section for my Mustang? I really don't want to buy a whole new model just for the canopy.

I have built the GWS ME-109 before but this time I have been taking all that I learned from the first one and added some extras to help it be a better plane things like adding plywood for the landing gear and flaps

Discussion Formosa canopy?

I got a formosa today, opened the box and noticed there is a black plastic piece and an addendum that says it goes over the foam canopy. What is the point of putting a black piece of plastic over a part I consider aesthetic?
