Help! Gyro on an Eagle?

I need some help from all you highly knowledgeably guys or gals. Can you use a gyro with a "V" tailed mixer? I would like to try one on my Eagle. Also, if you can, should a guy turn them way down to start with and then gradually turn them up?

Part 1: How to convert video and audio to iPod

Make Preparations:
Download the Video to iPod Converter.

1. Add files
Click "Add File(s)" button on the toolbar, select video or audio files you want to convert in the dialog box that opens, and add them to the file list.

2. Select output format
Choose one or more files in the file list, and open Profile drop-down list, then select an output format for selected files.

Tip: To adjust the output settings, click "Settings" button next to Profile drop-down list, and set the parameters of output format in the Advanced Profile Settings dialog box that opens.

3. Set output folder
Click "Browse" button in setting panel, select a destination folder in the dialog box that opens, and click OK.

4. Convert file
After finishing the above settings, check the files needed to convert in the file list, and click Convert Checked Item(s) button on the toolbar to start converting the files. You can view the conversion progress from the progress bar at the bottom of the window.

Part 2: How to edit video and audio files

1. Trim Video Segment
The software provides video/audio clipping function, which allows you to choose the segments you like from the source, and add them to the file list for converting.

* Select a video/audio file in the file list, click Edit button on the toolbar and choose Trim option to open Trim window.
* Click Play button to play the selected file.
* When it comes to the very start point you want, click Set Start Point button to set it as start point. And when it comes to the end point you want, click Set End Point button to set it as end point.

Tip: You can drag the slider or enter the time value you want in the Start and End textbox to adjust the position of start and end point.

2. Crop area size
Select the file you want to edit from the file list, and click Edit button on the toolbar and choose Effect option to open Effect window. Click Crop button in the left window to open crop setting panel.

* Check Enable Crop check box.
* Set Crop Area Size: Click the up and down arrow to adjust the height and width of the crop area. If you check Keep Aspect Ratio check box, the height and width will be changed proportionally.
* Set Position of Crop Area: Click the up and down arrow of Left Margin and Top Margin to adjust the left margin and top margin of the crop area.

Tips:
* Click Restore Defaults button, to restore the default settings.
* Adjust crop area manually: drag the central handle and surrounding handles in the preview window to adjust the crop area.

3. Adjust video effects
Select the file you want to edit from the file list, and click Edit button on the toolbar and choose Effect option to open Effect window, then click Effect button in the left window to go to the effect setting panel.

* Check Enable Effect check box.
* Set Brightness: click and drag brightness control slider or enter a value in the Brightness textbox to set the brightness of the video.
* Set Contrast: click and drag contrast control slider or enter a value in the Contrast textbox to set the contrast of the video.
* Set Saturation: click and drag saturation control slider or enter a value in the Saturation textbox to set the saturation of the video.
* Set Other Effects: choose an effect for the output video from the Other Effects drop down list.

Tip: Click Restore Defaults button, to restore the default settings.

4. Add watermark
Select the file you want to edit from the file list, and click Edit button on the toolbar and choose Effect option to open Effect window. Click Watermark button in the left window to open watermark setting panel, then check Enable Watermark check box. So you can add text watermark and image watermark as you want.

Done!

Help! Toshiba Camileo P10 wide angle suggestions?

Hello,
Recently I tryed Raynox QC-707 wide angle converter. It doesnt work - the image is still blurry despite I stick it to the lens cover.

I know that it is possible to dismount the camera and put universal lens mount from security cameras. It was done by David here.

I dont want to go this way because I would like to have P10 work as normal camera as well.

Is it possible to find a converter that will fit Toshiba? Probably it would be necessary to rework mounting part of it since I dont believe such adaptors exists for this particular camera.

Any thoughts?

I stumbled across this category of aircraft the other day and immediately got hooked. I also spoke to my mate who is into photography and video work 'ala terra' and he too thought it was very cool.

So, I'm going to build a quad. I have no real idea what I'm doing but as is my way I go headlong into a project all guns blazing and tackle whatever needs to be tackled.

I'm having a little trouble locating basic information on build and electronics. I've seen various websites(e.g. MK, here, Paperazzi etc) but the information is all one step ahead of me, so bear with me if some of my questions are somewhat basic in their content.

I suppose my first question should be, do I build a Quad or would I be better off with a Tricopter? At the end of the day I want to build a vehicle that is capable of a substantial load, something between .5 and 2kgs i.e. SLR or small professional video camera.

Weight is obviously a big factor, so what sort of diameter should I go for? Would there be more advantage, stability wise, in a 60cm over a 40cm diam vehicle?

Since this is a scratch build I'm thinking of using aluminium square section(about 15 x 15mm) for the arms and for the main centre decking, top and bottom, plywood (5-10mm). Beyond that, such as sub decking I will use whatever is lightest or most appropriate, aluminium, ply or carbon fibre.

I'm going to start this weekend after a visit to the DIY centre so some good advise before I go would be great.

I will get onto electronics later as I'm a little bemused by all the talk of circuit boards, multiple gyros etc etc.

Discussion anyone selling a finished quadro AP rig?

enjoy the hobby but don't have the time to dig around much anymore. need a ready built ( or really great kit) for a unit that can lift my Canon 5d camera for AP work. what is out in the market? anything that's not home built yet?

need it for pro work asap.

thanks for any leads for this ...would fly my gasser but have had bad luck with failures from radio to clutch, to tail parts etc etc etc on the big gasser...looking for simple smaller electric and quadro looks safer flying around folks anyway.

I came across an article in AviationWeek magazine about some models produced by Aurora Flight Sciences called 'Skate' and 'Mamba'. Below are a description and some pictures of them from the aviationweek article. I was wondering if anyone had tried to replicate either of them and with what success.

"Aurora Flight Sciences... Some of the company's "skunk works" engineers, not long out of MIT, present two backpack UAV concepts that push the envelope of what flying machines look like."

"Skate resembles a rigid, folding kite and is powered and steered by two independently controlled, vectoring, electrically powered propellers. The aerodynamic configuration and propulsive control make the Skate essentially immune to conventional stalls and allows it to turn tightly between buildings or inside them."

"Mamba has been designed to provide a simpler, more compact design for a ducted-fan UAV. With twin counter-rotating two-blade rotors and a four-segment folding duct, Mamba collapses into a small volume. Its most unusual feature, though, is a "suck and stare" mode: it can fly into a ceiling and wall and use the fan to stay in place, using less power than hovering."

Make Preparations: Download DVD to Sansa Suite.

Part One: How to rip DVD to Sansa supported video/audio

First, click "DVD to Sansa Converter" on the main interface to run DVD to Sansa Converter.

Step 1. Open your DVD Drive and put your DVD in it, then click "Load DVD" and choose "Load DVD" to load your DVD into this program.
Step 2. Choose your output format from the "profile" drop-down list.
After you choose your output format, you can adjust your output video's settings, such as "Resolution", "Frame Rate", "Bitrate", "Sample Rate" and so on.
Step 3. Click "Start" now to begin your conversion and you will get your video soon.

Part Two: How to convert video/audio to Sansa supported video/audio

First, click "Sansa Video Converter" on the main interface to run Sansa Video Converter

Step 1. Click "Add File" to load the video you want to convert.
Step 2. Choose output format by clicking "profile" and customize your own output video by clicking "settings" to adjust the Resolution, Frame Rate, Bitrate and so on.

Before you click "Start" to begin your conversion, you can do some editing works, such as pick up a part of your video to convert(trim), choose your own play region(crop) and put two or more files into one.(merge into one file).

Step 3. OK, now you can begin your conversion by clicking "Start" button.

Done!

Alert Posted Pencam 2 for sale

I posted a Pencam 2 for sale, it belonged to bar-stool. I am selling bar-stools RC stuff for his widow. A really daunting task and kind of sad.

I will be putting up some of his camera mounts soon. Many of them I know what camera they were for, a couple I don't but pretty much all of them can be modified to handle most cameras of the smaller type like the Nikon 3700 or so. Keep an eye over on the Misc for sale forum. I will post in this thread when I post a for sale if you like.

I am going to to say this first, I am sorry for the horrible quality. The camera has to focus everytime it moves from ground to sky view. This video was recorded on a Canon ES8400v with a hi8 tape. I have never been able to get it on my computer until today. I played the video on my tv and recorded it with my hd digital camcorder. This video was shot in 2004 from my Alpha .40 trainer. I was 15 at the time and it was the talk of our airfield. Since then I have left the hobby but recently I have started to jump back in at the age of 20. But onto the video description from youtube.

I strapped a 1.5lb canon camcorder to my Alpha .40 Trainer in 2004 and this is what happened. I mounted it up and the thing flew like a brick. A few minutes into the flight a strap came loose and also the muffler came off. I lost almost all power so I went for a basically dead stick landing, but I came in too hot. When I throttled up to go around it lost power again and I had to ditch it in some tall grass. No damage was done to the plane or camera. I was 15 at the time. I have never been able to move the video to the computer because it was recorded on a little Hi8 tape. Today, I took out my new HD digital camcorder and recorded this movie off of my tv. I know the quality is horrible, but Im glad I can finally share this after 5 years of it sitting in my closet. Oh and the video date is wrong btw.

Discussion My Flying Buddy

Here are a few stills taken from a video I made yesterday with my 808 Keychain Camera mounted on the wing of my Slow Stick. A redtail hawk and a buzzard were circling with me for a couple of minutes, and I managed to catch a few frames of the hawk.

(The time stamp was reset to January 2008 when the battery died, and I forgot to reset it before the flight.)

For all the LX3 Users
It appears that in burst mode, infinite or 4 continuous, that the jpeg file size is limited to around 4 MP..
Has anyone else notived this??
On the other hand if file setting is RAW, then the size is around 10 MP, mind you the shutter doesn't actuate continuous, as the Data takes a little longer to save

Stainz Palace is looking down from the hill in the centre of the village Stainz in south-west Styria. The palace in earlier times was a monastery of the Augustinians (1229-1785). Inside the church is a very beautiful baroque high altar.

Stainz is one of the centres of the south-west Styrian wine and fruit growing. The area around Stainz is also called 'Schilcherland' for the ros� colored wine that grows there.

Question Help with Formats

I have now added to my collection of cameras for AP use. It is a Panasonic SDR-S26. I want this for Ground to air video and be able post the results. The problem is the raw file is a .mod. Widows Movie maker does not see it. Neither does Virtual dub mod.
I can change it to .mpg, but when I put it on WMM it will not drag onto the video timeline only the audio timeline.
So my question is what program can I get and use (Freeby) to change to a seeable WMM or VDM format?

If you could only have one of Mikes' planes, which one would you choose? I'm looking to get one and start some A/P, but having a hard time deciding which one to get. If only $ were no object, one of each would be great. That way you have one for every occasion. Alas, I'm not that fortunate, so I'm looking for one to start with that can fill the bill for most needs.

I keep thing Super Solution. It's nice and stable with the longer wing and would carry anything I'm gonna put on it. But is it too big for most applications? Lets hear your thoughts on the pros and cons of each design. Would especially like to hear what Mike would choose if he had to have only one.

Build Log Super Big Wing Easy Star (BWEZ) Build

I have officially started my next AP/FPV aircraft. When finished it will have the Rangevideo.com EZ Pod on the center fuselage and each outboard fuselage will have their own high res still camera. One side pointing and one down pointing.

My current BWEZ uses a 10.1 Megapixel camera with the live video from the camera transmitted to the ground so the camera operator can manually control the camera via a second transmitter/receiver. I will continue to use this setup with an additional video switch to select the desired payload camera.

As I continue work on this project I will update the build and make available via Google Documents (free and painless for you to access). Please use this forum to post comments and help me out when deemed necessary. When it is done I will try and transfer the final build notes to this forum.

Discussion Spy Gum Camera Chair for Slow Stick

I got my Spy Gum camera a few days ago, I did some initial testing by taping it to my Slow Stick, but decided I wanted to raise it above the plane since it was so light. The other day I picked up some wood stir sticks when we were at Krispy Kreme doughnuts (they looked like they would come in handy). Anyway, I designed and built a simple camera mount (looks like a camera chair). Think old school wing walker. Anyway, the mount is held on by the Slow Stick wing rubber bands and can easily be turned around to face the rear of the plane. It is also easy to put on or remove.

Also, attached are a few photos of it on the plane.

About the camera, there are a few little odd things about it, like the time stamp -- the version I have will not remember it when shut off and I can not remove it. Also, this version is 720x480 -- but it looks like it uses a 640x480 camera then stretches it to 720 -- a bit odd but I am very pleased since it was only $10.50 off ebay. I now have something I can fly on almost any of my planes.

Cool Foo Fighter 48 Maiden | Ground & Air Vid

The maiden went very well & the conclusion is that this is a very slow bird. Below are the ground and air vids. :) My Dad, who is severly illiterite when it comes to technolgy :rolleyes:, did the ground video. He's improving! Be on the look out where I almost loose it in a tree.:o Thought I was going to clear it...
