Hi,

Does anyone have any of the Kestrel parts from Dave lying around not in use? I am doing my own ornithopter and was thinking of using his parts to flap the wing.

Anyone can help?

Discussion 2 wing orni to 4 wing orni conversion ....

Hi

Any hint or tips are greatly appreciated ... I'm after converting the I"m Fenice 2 winged fast flying poor control orni into a 4 winged slow flying controllable orni ... Is it possible ... ??

I'm thinking of using the tail actuator to deflect the wings for steering insteade of steering the tail ... just like the I-Vamp by ITC....

Hi,

Was wondering if anyone knows of any equations for ornithopters?

I did up a rubber-band powered ornithopter and wanted to calculate how much power the cranks are operating at, rubber band energy, how much power is required to flap the wings and stuffs.

Does anyone have any idea of the equations or where I can read up on it?

Discussion Suggested mods for the Fenice for better control

Well ..I like the slow flying characteristics of some other ornis ... like the Silverlit I-bird or Airhogs V-Wing avenger ..and Ireally wonder how Ican make the Fenice fly at slower speeds ... it may make it more controllable ...

I'm looking for mods that are not pricey and doesn't include using a tail servo for the tail .. because that will require a receiver , speed controller ,and a servo ... What about changing wing geometry ... .. playing with CG ..maybe change gearing ...I really appreciate any ideas

Thanks for the help with the cog, now enjoy this picture. I am flying the SK Park Hawk with 800 Ma 2s1p battery, stock motor, at Costa Mesa CA flying field. After no more than 2 minutes the crows start squawking and circling my Ornithopter. Soon there were lots of crows, circling and making lots of noise. Some wanted to attack it; others just wanted to be close. Everyone there was cracking up watching this thing and the birds flying around, what fun.

Discussion Slow Hawk 2 build trouble

I'm feeling a bit dumb right now, I mean I'm not inexperienced, having built and flown a number of heli's/aircraft/tanks/cars, you name it......but......well OK, call me stupid but I don't get it.

First of all the elevator instructions drove me mad :confused: :mad: Here's a tip for Sean Kinkade...a couple of diagrams wouldn't hurt. Anyway I think I have that figured but I'll come back to that as I have a more pressing problem...

How on earth are the aluminium ferrule's supposed to attach to the main bearings. The centre hole of the bearings are bigger than the head of the supplied cap screws. So I could use a washer but that won't centralise easily and then at the other end of the screw, it's just gonna float around loose in the bearing. Nah!! Somethings missing here...or I'm missing something blindingly obvious.
