They were considering a 1/20th kit I believe……… you may want to email them and ask about the status of this considering the economy.

Well today I came across some who said they can produce a 1/24 scale Schnellboot S-38 Type for at least
$200.00 less then what it is being sold for now, the supplier is out of England, and he also said he will suppy supperstructure and deck, so if you want to see this kit come out may be we should let him know, he said if he can get 10 paid orders he will produce the kit.
There is a S-38 kit selling in the USA for $1650.00 USD and it dose not come with superstructure or deck from what I hear.

$1650.00, without deck or superstructure doesn't sound like much of a kit---. :(
Pricey yes, but what DOES it come with, a promise---?

Are you referring to the Shaefer S-80 offered by Hasse Modelbau?

If so, that's not a hull but a complete kit that makes a mighty fine model of the open bridge S-boot as you can see from the following pics. Based at today's exchange after deducting VAT its under $1025 FOB der Vaterland.

John Drain's site PT Boat (http://www.pt-boat.com/sboot/sboot.html) has a Schnellboat section. He had worked up a great looking laser cut framed boat, but doesn't look like he has had much activity for a while. Maybe some combination of his work plus something would be possible.
I have always thought that a bigger S Boat would be lots of fun. It would be a great addition to my 1:24 scale 110' Island Class USCG cutter that I have never started.

Seer, the manufacturer has stated that he needs to sell at least 10 of those kits to make it worth his while. ;)
This is a sensible call on his part, as it will just about cover the costs for the tooling, and perhaps he can eke out a modest initial profit---. :)
However, if his sales are down after the first ten, then all he'll have done is add to his collection of seldom-used molds---. :o
