Hey there! So here is my story. I bought an old Traxxas Villian IV. It was just completely trashed when I got it. Im begining to fix it up. I just painted it black and grey. Did watercooling just on the motors though. Added a new transmitter. This coming week I am going to change to a 18 tooth pinion gear from a 14 tooth which the guy I bought it from had on it. Im running currently a (2) 7.2 V 1500 MAH. Will this new tooth have any effect on my speed?..... Plus I am thinking of running dual ESC that are stock my theory is that I could run 4 batteries. Two batteries to ONE esc then from the esc to ONE motor. Any suggestions if that will help on my speed. Plus I have thought of adding a transistor so I wont blow my motor. Any suggestions to help me out if that would even be a good idea and if it will even go faster with duel esc?

Running a bigger pinion may give you more speed, more likely is it will chew more amps with less runtime, Usually a hotter (faster/better/torquier) motor is used when running a bigger pinion.
Two ESCs but just use 2 batteries, upgrade the capacity the weight of 4 batteries will hinder not help
Change the battery packs to higher capacity, this will improve performance without any other changes. Say 3000 mAH plus
Get an assortment of plastic props to trial with, when you find the best balance between speed and runtime exchange it for the same size in metal.
Upgrade the ESC if you plan to run hotter motors,
run the boat on higher voltage with some 8 cell packs
Heres another build for some further ideas,

What if I went to an 8.4 Volt 2600. With the 18 tooth. The batteries online are about $56.00 online. Do you know of a cheaper price?

Hi Raven101,
I would try the batteries first without the pinion change, the motors be running faster with them so will probably achieve what your after without changing the pinion, monitor temps, then up the pinion if all is well.
I cant help you with the price of batteries I think we are in different countries :D
How did you go with the link I posted. I don't have a Villian, but the site looked like it had good info from my quick peek.
