Hamman Ghuman makes Metal hop up gears for my rc10 GT tranny and i was
thinking of giving them a try.
What factors are there to concider?
Should i leave plastic in there because of fault tolorance, meaning if
somthings gota give in a bind let the gears rip instead of the Mip/cvds. In
this case what about just leaving the spur plastic.
Is friction (more heat) going to come into play with metal gears?
Are their typicaly restrictions at tracks on these?
Just wondering what people think here, i don't actually have any problems
with the gears that are in there but i do love to tinker and see the
results.

I have an all metal gear transmission (except the reverse gear) with metal
spur gear on my T-Maxx, it seems to be able to power over stuff without
breaking the plastic CVD's that Tmaxx's have. also havent blown out a
differential, but I think those are metal already.

I run a metal diff gear in all my GT's.
Stripped one once at the track, when I was leading by a big margin... did not
finish.
Taking that tranny apart and changing out that gear is NOT something I wanted
to do in the pits. Too many little screws and parts you can lose. Took the
truck home and bought metal diff gears for all my GT's and my Losi XXX NT.

Taking that tranny apart and changing out those gears takes some work and time.
Doing so though, will afford you the opportunity to do a diff re-build.
I re-build my diffs at the start of every race season, whether they need it or
not.

Protect ALL your gears, and CVD's with your slipper clutch. That's what it's
there for.

I run plastic spurs on all my trucks. It will hopefully go before something
internal goes.
>Is friction (more heat) going to come into play with metal gears?
Never had a heat problem.
>Are their typicaly restrictions at tracks on these?
Those metal gears are perfectly legal.

If you're just bashin' around the yard, I wouldn't go to the trouble.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
If you like to race, and hate being sidelined by something like a little
gear... go for it.

Thanks for the input guys. I think i will probably give them a try. There
used to be a track near here but it's gone! I gota find out where they went,
i was thinking of making a small one for me and my friends but thats alot of
work.
I know what you mean about re-building the diff every season, thats what got
me thinking about this in the first place. I just got the truck out and
started getting it ready for spring, took the tranny apart, new gasket on
the exhaust, still gota go over all the axles & shocks. I never look at
maitenance on the kit as a time factor, thats what we have them for , i mean
they are models made for tinkering ;)
