I'm looking to buy an 80" 3d converted to electric, airframe or RTF. Can you help?

It may be bigger than you're looking for but 3D Hobbyshop www.3dhobbyshop.com has an 87" wingspan Extra SHP and also an 89" AJ Slick that are designed for electric (or gas) power. There are very informative threads on both in the 3D forum.

Also, Extreme Flight is coming out with a 78" Extra, but I'm not sure about the E.T.A. on that one. I think it's in a month or two?

Thanks! I'll keep my eyes open. If you know anyone looking to "move" one, have them contact me.

Have you looked at the thread's in the 3D forum for the 3DHS models.
If nothing else they are full of information on airplanes in this size, charging, batteries, motors and ESC's

I have. I actually have the 51" AJ Slick and saw the 88" at my field, that's what got me excited! I just want to limit my setup to 10S and it looks like they are recommending 12S.....So...you know what I mean.

I hear ya! I just bought a 78" Extra 330L that I'm converting to 10s electric. It's a Dave Patrick Models design. From what I've heard they're on par with Aeroworks as far as build quality goes.
I'm pretty excited to get this thing together, and I'm just waiting for my equipment to arrive.
PS: I'd hit up the ExtremeFlight 78" when it comes out. It's a perfect size, and if it flies anything like what I've heard the 58" does, it'll be an awesome plane!

Thanks Tyler. Yeah, I checked up on the EF 78", but they say it's gonna be a few more months - and I'm ready NOW!

When I talked to them they said the end of next month. If you're going 10S I think this is going to be the one to have this year.

Want a big 10S Extra now?
35cc size
73" Wild Hare Extra 260 (http://www.wildharerc.com/products/Edge540Extra260/)
73" Hyperion Extra 260 (http://www.allerc.com/product_info.php?products_id=3659)
78" Aeroworks Extra 260 (http://www.aero-works.net/store/detail.aspx?ID=308)
78" Extreme Flight Extra 300 (http://www.extremeflightrc.com/) (ETA=Spring?)
78" Hangar 9 Extra 260 (http://www.hangar-9.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=HAN2750)
But I agree for 10S the EF 300 is the one to wait for.

3DHS is working on some ~70" planes that will be announced at SEFF... I am going to wait for the announcement, then decide on one of them or the EF 78".

Lucky for you,
3DHS won't post any of their big stuff to Australia. I do have a Wild Hare distributor only 45 minutes drive from me. Kind of cuts down the choice.

The 3dhs 70" planes I'm sure will be awesome, but they are coming this summer. As I recall, last year's 3dhs summer releases shipped around September.
So, my thinking is, if you want a big electric bird this season, that's too long to wait.........
Which is all the more reason to invest in great quality gear so it will be around for the next giant.

Yep, fairly shockingly outrageously expensive to post 60-90" aircraft trans-Pacific...plus it often is damaged and has no reliable insurance coverage.
If you have a WH dealer nearby, I'm the happy owner of the WH 73" Extra, and I like it very well. IMO, it's bit heavy for 6S, although I flew it like that for a while, 8-10S is the ticket. I saw the 73" Edge, and it looks to have come from the same genes, ought to fly well.
The Extreme Flight plane should be very nice, too. The build quality on my 74" Extreme flight Yak is good, better than the WH. That one looks to be solidly in the 10s category.
What we're doing is definitely 6-8S, and with no Olympics shutting down the entire Chinese nation this year, we hope to get them built quicker.

Ooops, yes, I had forgotten about the Olympics.
Basher, maybe you could take the opportunity to tell us what you are working on in 70" size?

Ben,
As a very happy owner of the 47" extra 300 SHP and 47" Extra SR you know I'd go for another 3DHS. It's <almost> reason to emigrate......almost.....
Cheers for the +ve feedback on the WH product - can't find much on RCG about them. I had a look at them at Desert aircraft a while back -sure look nice. Might convince me to go gas...

Clovus - If you get the WH, you get to have the satifying experience of dropping almost a half pound out just by removing the plywood fake dashboards in the canopy. Maybe they've deleted that themselves, it's unbeleivably heavy. The rest is nice and light, proper aifoil, pretty much proper design all the way around.
Flop - OK, about time to start revealing some things. Three planes for '09 in that size class. All are planes we're also doing in smaller sizes. 850-1000 squares. More to come in the next month or so, depending on how fast we can work.
