Does anyone know if you can use the Losi Excelorin brushless system with the stock radio system from the Mini-Z Formula Boat. I want a small boat and that's the one I want but it needs to be a lot faster.

From this pic, the esc is built into the rx. The servo might be soldered and you would want a better battery. You could probably use the same tx with the rx crystal. Good luck.

The esc is also probably for a brushless motor so you would probably need to switch that.

So, would I have a better chance if I use the Losi receiver and try to use the micro servo for a micro-t?

...try to use the micro servo for a micro-t?

depends on servo installation i guess. it should work.

After I finish my other boats I will start on a mini-z. One final question. With the lipo battery for the micro-t, which motor would be better in the mini-z, the xcelorin or a feigao?

Good ?. I saw on u-tube where a mini-z was real fast but haven't seen it for quite awhile. Now if someone spots it on u-tube, let this whole group know by posting where you found it. I was impressed with its speed for its size. Now that way heads can think of answers and hopefully have an answer.

What motor would be better to use in the boat, a feigao or an xcelorin?

what's the kv of either motors?

The Xcelorin has 8750kv and the Feigao has 5250.

Q, what voltage battery pack do you wish to use?. with sport boats(boats run for more than say 10 seconds w/o extended cooldown periods) you really don't need over 30k rpm @ the prop. most likely any motor with a kv rating higher than 4400 will be too 'hot'.

Well I plan to use the micro-t 7.4v 200mah lipo. Will the the motor really get too hot? There really aren't any other motor choices I have, right?

well it probably wouldn't melt a hole in the hull...from the looks of things it would appear that you have room for a feigao 380 8L (3613kv) and water jacket, though you might need to install a new mount. 3613kv should run the boat nicely on 7.4v an yet allow you to try 11.1(3s) if you wanted to try something crazy. one problem with small boats is torque roll, put too big a motor in and watch the boat roll over when you hit the throttle. you might find this site helpfull http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/products.php?cat=42 hth

OSE has a motor upgrade and would use a 6 pitch prop in the cf type and cool the upgrade motor and check the drive line for friction is the best you can do. Check for motor space and size of bl and see if it will fit with cooling on bl. Sure would be nice to get a real up close clear picture and amount of " in that area. Thanks!

Since the mini-z boats are very small I don't think a 380 size motor would fit with normal size electronics. The Feigao I was talking about is meant for the micro-t. The boat is only 9 inches long, so a smaller motor, battery, and electronics, like from a micro-t, would work better and also fit better, right?

I did some checking and the 380s and the 380l are for 15" boats. I'd go for the upgrade OSE as the 380's would be to powerful unless you go for the 380's in the 3000kv which gives you 22,200 rpm and a high pitch prop. Only a suggestion for that size boat. 7500kv, when all you need is 30,000 or less and use a 6 pitch to go fast and very, very small fingers. LOL!

Are there any small 27mhz AM receivers?
The stock transmitter will work with not only with the stock, but with others too.

I have one coming and I'll start something in the electrics forum when I decide its too slow.
