HI all I was wondering if anyone would be interested in creating a design online as a group for a model jet for max performance. I say performance because I don't just want One thing I would like to design the best of the best without compromising any aspect of the overall finished project.
Now I would like to get an idea in my head from all of you what is top of the line. Power to weight raito. Top speed. Glide ratio. What features you would like to see. Thrust vectoring or pitcherons. Vertical takoff and landing. And finally, What the plane design will start as everyaspect of the air frame. V tail T tail Y tail canard swing wing swept wing forward swept wing materials size pusher prop fan turbine. Basicly what would you want if you had to fight in the skys today to take down the best :D :D

It's impossible to have one design thats 'ultimate' in all areas. You need to decide on what you want the model to do and tailor the design to fit the requirements.
Aircraft design is all about compromises, you want 'ultimate' in one area then something else has to be sacrificed.

Thats true and I understand that. but what I am trying to find is a Design that won't have any major down sides or flaws. and when I say ultimate is more along the lines of versitle and pleasing to all jet entusists. sorry for spelling

I think the main 'jets' that people go for are either a scale one for looks, or one purely for speed.
I'm not sure there are many jets designed for aerobatics other than the pusher jet foamies.
It's doubtful a model could be designed to take electric, IC, or turbine power and still meet the 'ultimate' criterion.
I would have to agree with JetPlaneFlyer, also add that IMHO there is no such thing as the ultimate just about anything. Someone always finds a way to improve things, or people just want something new as the ultimate thing becomes 'dated' simply on looks.
There is usually always an improvement that can be made, even if it reaches its 'ultimate' design, there will always be someone who then asks, "can it also do.........can it also have........".
That's why there has never been an ultimate any model plane type, (other than models actually called 'Ultimate'), and why theses forums keep going on and on.
There has already been a aerodynamics for ultimate SPEED. (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=969113) thread, with the criterion of being very inexpensive. It still hasn't produced anything.

i have read that thread and I just want to have fun creating the design and making somthing that everyone that flew or saw fly would be impressed with. A head turner that pushes the limits. A futureistic plane that tests the imagination and gets people thinking. I am not an idiot I am just trying to have fun and Get peoples Ideas on what is the best. If I honestly thought that I could get everything jets can do into one plane I would have built it and started selling it. This is a thread to be fun and dream and create. I'm sorry I said without compromise because I know in reality you need compromise. it's more what would you have if you could?

When you're talking about the newer turbine jets I think the phrase "be careful what you wish for" comes to mind. With the performance you can achieve using today's powerful turbines it's pretty easy to fly super fast to where you need to be constantly in a turn or quick reversal to avoid flying out past your ability to perceive the model's attitude. And once you lose track of which way it's pointed disaster is only a control input away.
There's also no lack of perfectly good designs out there already. You'll need to nail down what it is that you want this one to do that is better than the others. Otherwise it's all sort of vague and general.
In the end most of the parameters are already known for going fast, still maneuvering sharply, being strong enough to withstand the G loads. So all that's left is to make something that looks good to the eye and isn't a close copy of some already existing design. And since this is to be your project why not do some sketches and post 'em up. If there's something obvious that is a deal stopper we can point it out to you.
