View Full Version : 9253 Servo Spindle moves in-and-out a little

The spindle (centre shaft bit?) of my Futaba 9253 tail servo has some
lateral play i.e. it clicks out a little, and then back in. I have given it
full throw with it both clicked in and clicked out (although during
movement, it tends to click one way or another by itself anyway) and I'm
reasonably sure it's not right. i.e. it doesn't move entirely smoothly when
clicked some way or other.
I know this sounds utterly vague but someone must get what I'm trying to
say. Is it bad? knackered? On it's way out? I bought it from Revo models for
£75 "cash", umm but I never thought to ask if this meant I wasn't entitled
to a warranty... It was new (boxed like a cheap plastic toy!!)
any thoughts would be greatly devoured

I don't think this is abnormal, within limits. Have you ever tried to do this
on other servos? I've felt this kind of movement on some and not on others.
I'd put it down to manufacturing tolerances in most cases. As long as there's
no "rotary" slop or freeplay in the output shaft, I don't think I'd worry about
it too much.

I have a JR810G tail servos with a small bit of "rotary" slop. I can't for
the life of me remember if it came like that or not but it does bother me
and I'm having problems getting the tail to hold solid in slow backwards
flight.
Apart from the obvious stuff in the tailbox and the linkage I wonder is this
a contributing factor? Anyone out there have a JR810G can you check to see
have you any rotary slop. It is only a small bit of slop but i have JR 591s
on cyclic and they have no rotary slop. Any comments suggestions would be
really appreciated.

I just took a brand new 810G out of the box and there is the _tiniest_
just discernable movement. In fact it's about the same, perhaps a tiny
bit less than a somewhat used 8700G. Mind you we're only talking 1/2 a
flyshit in both cases...

Thanks for that JM...I will have to go back and see how big my servos
flyshit is. In my case, I think it is a rather large flyshit though, so
maybe I can come up with a more precise unit, like degrees perhaps!!
Nice one.
