Hello,

I've been wondering about this for some time now: why does it take longer to rotate when you have first added elevator and then throttle compared to vice versa? Does the elevator act as more of a flap (creating drag) than an elevator in this case? I discovered this while using high throw rates on 3D aircraft on my sim. Just a curious question.:)

Thanks,

On a full size two wheel aircraft, (and on some models), I believe they give a little down elevator to raise the tail off the ground as soon as possible. It reduce the angle of attack of the wing and reduces drag.

As model fliers, we tend to hold up elevator to stop the model nosing over, so there is more drag.

Opening the throttle first, probably gets the prop trust to lift the tail, and reduce the drag, (just as a nose over sometimes happens if you open the throttle too quick). And then maybe less elevator is needed so speed builds up quicker.

A few 'guesses' there, but I think I'm correct.

eflightray,

Thank you very much. So...it is drag!:)
