View Full Version : Discussion It's not too early to speculate on Parkzone's 2009 warbird

Every year for the past 5 years Parkzone has introduced a new warbird. Each one better than the last. First came the P-51, then the Focke Wulfe, followed by the Spitfire. Then in 2007 PAYDIRT! A receiver ready T-28 with the greatest invention of the past 100 years - "Z" foam! That was followed by the receiver ready, "Z'" foam Corsair last year.

Parkzone must have sold billions of the T-28s and Corsairs because I saw them all over the place. There were six T-28s at our field alone last year.

Any ideas, or inside information on what's coming from Parkzone in 2009?

I'm sure someone can be persuaded (or bribed) into leaking some news!

theres already a thread about this but since its nearly died out i will continue here. my guess is a p47 thunderbolt but i would love an rtf or pnp ww1 biplane big time!

P-47 would be cool. But the p-40 would be cooler!

I would freak out and cry tears of joy if they released the p47 with retracts!

I would love to see any of their newer planes include retracts & fixed landing gear like the E-Flite Sea Fury.

I doubt PZ will do retracts or flaps... it adds additional difficulty to the set up, adds to the cost, and would move them outside their target demographic.

I am hoping for a Mig-3 or ME109....I really want a B-25 or Mosquito but as twins they again get pushed above the prce range for PZ.

I have heard some confidence over the P-47 rumors... is there anything to this or are people just letting their imaginations run away with them?

I would definitely buy a PZ P-47 or a P-40 assuming they're comparable to my beloved PZ Corsair. :)

I think the ME-109G would be a good choice for the next PZ plane. With a larger wingspan (44") you could fly slow and a narrow fuselage, it could go fast. I would like to see a Stuka too. There isn't a lot of those in the > 40" WS.

i think the p47/p40 rumours have generated from the current z foam models having larger fuselages that are easy to shape with z foam. furthermore the cowling on the t28 and corsair is large enough to accept the 480 outrunner with ease. the same applies for the p47 and p40. nice big fuses and nice big cowls, easy to shapes to make moulds for z foam. also david from parkzone/horizon said that axis planes dont sell which kind of rules out a 109 etc. disappointing.
either way if the new plane flies as well as my trojan i will definetly be getting it! i never ever have an uh oh moment with my trojan, it just does what i tell it to do.. period. they should give us a bit of a hint though so we can get our wallets ready! something should be unveiled with 2 months hopefully.

Thanks... I follow that logic.

How about a yak-3 or la-7? Both look great and were among the best planes of the war. Yea weve been over this one lol. An me-109 (early model) or fw-190 (late d9 model) would be awesome.

I second Oyatco's voice. A 109G would be a welcome addition of a 109 which isn't the same version that everyone else out there is trying to release. Now that they've released so many of the other 'standards', it's time for a 109 for sure. Parkzone, are you listening to us?

I would love to see any one of the aformentioned birds, but I am betting we will see the counterpart to the Corsair in the form of a Zero.

FOD, I agree...what about an Avenger... guns hangin out the canopy pointed toward the tail... lots of room for a 480 and a 3s 2100 lipo....plus there arent any foam ones that I know of so it would be one of those "attention getters" at the field (sorry spent all morning watching Battlefield 360 as they go through the pacific)

I would love to see a Zero, but if the T28 was such a hit with its chunky airframe, radial style cowl etc...maybe they'll go for an Avenger/Bearcat/Harvard...if it ain't broke...don't fix it (but no doubt i'll be fixin mine ;) )

Ditto the zero. A more common, famous, and inferior plane the world has never seen. Aside from the p-51, only it was a fairly decent plane. Id take a p-47 maybe... Really hoping for something different enough to make it worth my while.

Here's what I think. Parkzone and Horizon both know by now which plane they plan to introduce this year. What's the big deal about telling us what it is?

Those of us in the cold, cold climes of the world are trying to ward off "cabin fever" right now. The January/February doldrums have set in. Just a small piece of news about what we can look forward to this summer in a new warbird could prevent many potential mental disorders.

Any news at all from Horizon would at least pull me away from the window where I gaze at the thermometer outside hoping it will show signs of moving up. That's all I do now, all day long, and it's not good. :censored:

My guess is that they would only stand to lose by telling us now:

1.) the excitement over a new model release will have a greater impact on sales if the plane is available close to the intial buzz.

2.) telling us now might cause many folks who would otherwise buy a Corsair or T-28 (then possibly the new bird later) to hold out for the new release.

Horizon didn't get to be one of the biggest names in RC by luck. They know how to market their products.
