Ah shucks! They are out of order even though I was careful to name and load them in order.

1. Look at nice new goodies and radio
2. Pull out old module
3. Give it a good toss
4. Watch it in the air
5. Watch it some more in the air
6. On downward trajectory
7. Old module in the garbage can
8. Plug in new module
9. Admire work and tell spouse how hard it was

If you edit-manage attachments, you can place the photo order there.

Thank you avidjeeper for that tip. It now displays in order.

You got the order wrong.
3. Save old module and re-install when you send radio to Futaba service center.
4. Plug in new 2.4 GHz module and test radio.

Ok is this a joke? If not how much did the swap cost?

Was that an overhand toss into the basket? :p

Ironman929,

No joke. It is a dead simple change over. I acquired this radio new for a song. I wanted it for my model tower crane that is a "work in progress." Unfortunately, it was a 72MHz radio that would have had me illegal for my use on the crane and seeing it just sit in the box when I started with boats hurt even more. Someone (sorry, don't recall their name) on this sight posted a thread about converting and the race was on.

I got my items from ASSAN via TrueRC. They have a small site, but the service was like lightning. The transmitter plug in module was $90. A second item required is the receiver. There were multiple choices here but I opted to purchase two 8 channel receivers ($70ea) with the internal antennas to keep things nice and neat inside the boat. The internal antenna receivers have a limited range. But that limited range is 2,600 feet. Hell, I can't even see that far, so I feel these type of receivers will serve me well. :)

I now have under $350 invested in this radio and it can control two boats @8 channels each.

The binding process was also a cinch. No issues with this step at all.

For the record: It was a hook shot to the basket from just inside the three point line. :)
