I have tried at least a dozen times to properly configure the transmitter to no avail. I have attempted to do an advanced config to remove the mixing but it does not seem to take. As it stands it is unflyable.
I have sent an email to phoenix requesting support but may take some time. I have read other threads and except in one case where the technical aspects befuddled me, I cannot find an answer. Any suggestions

Sounds as if the TX is just not compatible / suitable for use with simulators. Most sims require a standard PPm signal from the trainer port, and unmixed channels. Best suggestion, would be to look on flea-bay for an old basic 4 / 6CH Futaba / JR transmitter for use with the sim

The transmitter is one suggested by heliguy.com where I purchased the software and is ppm. I have received a response from phoenix requesting additional information and hope that a fix will become apparent. thanks

To use the Esky EK2-0406A controller with Phoenix, or any sim package, you must disable the internal CCPM function of the radio. You can do this easily by changing the position of two switches accessible through the battery compartment.
I attached two pictures showing the default positions and the sim positions. I made some marks in the label next to the opening to remind me of the default position. You can use a small screwdriver to slide the switches to the sim position.
When you configure the controller in Phoenix, select the Esky 0404 4-channel controller. I had to reverse the rudder servo switch on the front of the controller to make it work.
Remember to remove the crystal from the front of the controller while you are on the sim. This will reduce the battery consumption because the transmitter section will not be on. Also remember to change the CCPM switches back before you fly.

thanks for the replies. Finally got the transmitter working using the various bits offered here and by phoenix. Did have to do a final config using custom to make it all work but up and flying now. thank you
