I have a DX6i and have been trying to get it connected to my computer.

First I tried the simple way: A stereo cable, PPJoy and SmartPropoPlus. I've very carefully followed all the instructions and everything would work fine until I tried to calibrate the joystick in the windows game controllers screen. While the signal looked fine in both PPM Thermometer and Winscope, windows wasnt seeming to recognize the signal properly. Well, I tried fiddling for hours, along with many hours of searching the web for answers, and eventually gave up.

Next, I went to my hobby shop and purchased a GWFSM002 cable on the guys recommendation. However I found that windows still wouldn't properly recognize my controller. I did my research and found out that I should have gotten a GWFSM002B instead. Well, the store wouldn't accept my return (the cable wasnt faulty, it just wasnt the right product...even though it was the one they told me to buy!!). So i popped down to radioshack and got a stero-to-mono adapter, but it still wont work.

Can anyone help me figure out how to get windows to play nice with the DX6i without buying ANOTHER cable? I'd appreciate any help you guys can give me. I'm very frustrated and very broke. Thanks.

I tried a stereo 1/8" plug it would not work with the DX6i and PPJOY and smartpropoplus. A mono 1/8" plug I bought from radioshack seems to work.

PPJOY only works under Windows XP (tested) and Vista32???.

Actually, you don't need PPJOY if you want to use the DX6i / DX5e for FMS through the 1/8" plug. The latest ver. of Smartpropoplus works with Vista32 and Vista64. Just install the latest Smartpropoplus with the FMS option and you are good to go.

Once Smartpropoplus is installed, under the smartpoplus console (if the FMS option is installed, you may have to start FMS to trigger the Smartpropoplus console), select PPM (Generic). Audio Source enabled with check mark. Select the appropriate device driver for your soundcard mic. Under the advance tab, audiosource, make sure your microphone is enabled.

Go to FMS, controls, analog controls, mapping/calibration to calibrate the sticks and reassign channels. If you move the sticks, you will be able to see the blue bars move. If you get nothing, make sure the transmitter power button is in the off state. You will not get a PPM source if the transmitter power button is in the on state. Easy as a cake!

If you really want PPJOY, install Smartpropoplus w/o FMS, then PPJOY. Run setup and install the virtual joystick under PPJOY. Use your simulator software to calibrate the sticks?

Ok, i bit the bullet. Got a new cable.

This time windows detects it wonderfully and i can see the hash marks moving all around the screen in the "calibration" page.

However a soon as i start REFLEX I *still* get a "No Reflex-interface detected" screen!!!!

Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this once and for all?!?

Reflex XTR uses a proprietary dongle which connects your transmitter to a USB port. There is no need to use SPP or other joystick emulators.

The dongle provides "security." Reflex is pretty easily obtained via BitTorrent, but the app is useless without the dongle.
