I am planning on purchasing another helicopter. I can't decide on getting a 72mhz or 2.4 ghz. Is it really better to spend the extra money on a 2.4 ghz? Why is a 2.4 ghz better?

No frequency conflicts. Perhaps the guys on the helicopter boards could add some helicopter specific info though.

Most heli guys have switched to 2.4. Easier to install antennas, less latency. Strong use of 2.4 in jets and racing too. Soaring is a little slower to change. Wrong forum?

It's better for the rest of us stragglers on 72MHz if you change to 2.4GHz!!
;)
Actually, it's better for you is some newbie pilot switches on without asking you your frequency first while you are flying!!!!

I'll change one of these days.

Beware, though, of fully carbon sailplane fuselages, if you fly both helis and sailplanes; some of the new models are coming out with fiberglass noses on them to allow safer 2.4G installs.

Good Luck,

2.4 is better in every way. 72 is just as good as it has always been, but 2.4 is a step up.
