Hi E,

I just updated the original post to call out the features.
The included 800 watt power setup is a good for scale-type flight.

Thanks AIRSALLY!

I know how much you like Hawks, why not add one more to your collection :D .

I hope folks can see the value in the offer, aside from a nice big detailed composite airframe, you get a known fan (WM400) valued at about $50 and a motor valued at about $80.

Cheers,
Al

Hey Mav,

Here is a link to some video (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=806356#post8991815), I plan to get some better footage once the weather breaks, if another Flyer doesn't beat me to it ;) . Click RedBull for the latest.

Al,

Do you have a recommended retract setup? Scale vs non-scale?

Thanks!

Hi docphi,

I have first hand experience with the SouthEast Model Products retracts and the HET brand retracts (install only).

For closer to scale look, you will want to talk to Larry at SouthEast Model Products about his trailing link struts as well.

Both retracts are easy to install and I have crash tested Larrys :D . They still work and he does service them if need be.

Hi F-86FLIER4LIFE,

The Red Bull is my personal bird and a custom paint job. I have no immediate plans to sell it. ;)

Available colors are: Red, White and Black

Well Equipped at $299 US

Mr Boogie,

No offense as I can appreciate what it took to design, build and than bring to market what appears to be a really nice looking bird. Although I am tempted to lay down my $299 of my hard earned dollars, I still haven't seen a video which in my mind represents a flight ready model.

The videos I have seen were shot in a parking lot and show the plane violently snapping and attempting to stay airborne. I know you mention you will get more vid when the weather is better but my recommendation would be to get one of these top guns here on RCG (and no not me :D) to fly this bird and show everyone what it is capable of, than I am sure these things will fly off the shelves.

Just my 2 cents,

Dennis

I agree...

unfortunately it kept me from making a purchase....Looks great! But also looks like it flys VERY unstable.

looked like he just had it way out of trim :D After he trimmed it out, it looked fine to me.

Hi ddfwaj,

No offense taken.

I'm going to assume that you have not read the entire build thread (I know it's lengthy), so I'll try to sum up the thread.

The project began as a home endeavor in which I vowed to my fellow RCgrouper's to share the good with the bad in the spirit of the journey.

To this end the first flight video (gray hawk) I had my fancy universal joints used on the elevator shear in flight and cause me to lose the bird (after a nice takeoff I might add ;) ).

The RedBull video shows the maiden of another airframe after I redesigned the elevator mechanism to a solid steel rod setup.
The backstory behind why the flight was admittedly unstable is due to me not cycling and locking my gear down before takeoff. This resulted in

1) a gear collapse during takeoff roll followed by
2) scraping of the aileron servo arm (stripping it in the process) deflecting the aileron up (inducing an out of trim condition)and
3) overloading of my ESC (unknown at the time while I was airborne), it did however show itself as servo twitching (at full throttle) on the bench afterwards.
As you can see I decided to fly anyway.

This maiden (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=10166009&postcount=199) report link gives the blow by blow of the flight and is very entertaining to read.

Since that video/flight, I have had more flights but for numerous reasons have not been able to get it together with my video guy before rolling into winter. I'm certainly more than open to any available TopGuns in or close to Northeast New Jersey giving her a go but my personal tolerance for cold weather flight is not that great.

Certainly I understand from a consumer point of view wanting to see good video and I plan to get it, but I suspect some of the folks building right now might beat me to it.

Cheers,
Al

Just to let folks now.

I've gotten enough requests from folks to offer a no power system option.
So I went back to the manufacurer and negotiated a bit...

Now a kit without motor can be offered at $249
Sorry, the fan cannot be separated from the offer.

Full kits including fan and motor are $299.

I will update the original post.

Thanks,
Al
