55" Deep "V" Electric

Hi
Several years ago a great friend gave me a Dumas 38 Scarab KV, Kit No.
1435, a 55" deep V. My friend has passed away and I would like to do
something with the boat.

It has not had a motor or any running gear installed, it is like a new
kit.

I would like to build it as an electric, with moderate power, it does
not have to be a screamer. I don't know where to start this project, all
I can find out about electric boats has not helped me much with a 55"
boat project.

I Build, Fly & Crash R/C planes many of them are float planes, and
having a great boat at the lake would allow me to use the lake even if
the wind is to high.

Wow 55" is a big boat for an electric.

I'm not sure what motor size and battery capacity you would need to get
the hull moving. I'm thinking it would need to be fairly heavy duty.

My electrics are only around 26" so I don't have any experience on
set-up. I'm sure someone here would be able to give some advice.

gonna need a big motor...radiator fan motor(automotive, salvage yard?), 'nue
3080' on 10s lipo is what I hear they are using in the 1/8 scale hydros.

The KB45-11XL from Hobby City in Hong Kong might be appropriate:

it's max of 35 volts. it will produce 2592 watts (over 3 HP). One buyer
reported that on a 6S lipo (22 volts) it drew 85 amps, produced 1800 watts
(2.3 HP) and turned 22,000 no-load RPM .

BTW, I've had good luck with motors, ESC's, and Lipos from Hobby City.
