I picked one up a while ago, but haven't had any sea trials on it yet. Water up here is kinda solid for a few months more. :(

The Proboat USCG 47' MLB RTR was originally produced by Midwest. Try searching for Midwest USCG RTR and you'll find something.

I watched the video.Does anyone else think that boats a little tippy??It looks top heavy. There was a couple times I saw the sides of the cabin In the water. As well as heard the props cavitating an sucking some air.An that was In pretty flat water.I would hate to see that boat In any chop.I hope It Is exactly Like the real one an In self righting Itself..

The boat in the video probably doesn't have the proper amount of ballast in it.

Your right I looked Into the boat further.I also found more video.Theres one where a guy was introducing the boat!!At the end It was telling what you need..He was saying also Invest In a coule rolls of pennies!!!I thought that was a little funny..Probably cheaper then lead ballast now you think??? LOL..Might even be able to use nickels now an get more weight still cheaper...

Is it selfrighting?

It would have to be given that all the major weight is below the water line. That is the batteries, ballast, motors, esc's,drive train, etc.

Fuyuan RC is Proboat's RTR source where the new CG boats hail from:

http://www.fuyuanrc.com/en/aboutus.htm

You won't find any of the Proboat models on their website but you'll see photos of the factory in addition to other designs that they sell under their Vantex brand or package for trading companies/dealers.

Looks like she runs ok to me. Maybe a little weight in the bow would be good but otherwise the boat seems to run very well. Thanks for the video. Pete

I think what was happening was the person didn't put the required ballast in the hull. The instructions call for two rolls of pennies to be put in cut outs in the framing under the cabin that are meant just for that.

Ok Chuck...Gosh...I would have, but I've been working straight these past few weeks, (which doesn't let me "ELL-OH-ELL" very much), and today has been the first day I could spend with my behind next to the keyboard.

I have the Midwest version and they tell you how much ballast is needed. I removed some of it due to the excessive stern plunge while running. The video shows the typical stance while running. I run with two 7 cell nimh packs and had to rebalance the boat. It runs great for stock 550 motors.
