For my fixed wing planes I use one Futaba 6 channel Tx and each plane has its own Hitec receivers.

When it comes to boats my Txs have been the "cheapo" Futaba 2DR. Trouble is I'm not aware of a cost effective replacment / separate Rx. When trying to kit out my latest build, once again the price of an Rx and crystal is nearly the same price as a whole new set (Tx, Rx, two servos and battery holder). I feel guilty buy a whole kit when I only need the Rx.

Can anyone recommend a compatible AM 75Hz Rx that is competitvely priced?

Rob

Below is a Hitec Rx (Single conversion) Rx. Looking at Tower's notes it won't work with a Futaba Tx.

Is the 152 the one you were thinking of Rob?

I think what robp originally meant was that with a rx costing

$35
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXMRE6&P=ML

and a crystal costing $7:

for a total of $42

why not buy an entire radio for $45:

then you get two extra servos and a spare tx (servos are $11 each!)

Tsenecal,

Thats exactly my point :^(
You can either think that the whole kit is a good deal or the price of the Rx is a rip off.

Rob P-That's exactly why I have six 2 channel Futabas. The whole shebang is cheaper than just an Rx and Xtal. Doesn't make sense.

It is all about competitive pricing. The whole r/c market competes with providing a basic two channel radio at the lowest possible price, so we can get a 2 channel radio for about $45. You can get a RX for $30-35 and a Crystal for $7. Probably no competition among the manufacturers for pricing on replacement RX and crystals.

I have bought additional Sets on the same frequency then just used one TX and the others just gather dust or as spares. Using one TX reduces the number of TX batteries to maintain. If you add in the additional Switch harness, servos, and battery then it is a bargain to buy a set vs individual parts. This is the same for many industries.

Thanks
