I need help in determining my potential weight on a conversion. Could someone tell me the weights (ballpark) of the following motor setups (engine, standoffs, ignition, muffler, etc.):

DA-100
DA-85

I know there is going to be some variance, but I'm curious what I'm up against in getting a plane to balance on a lightweight electric motor and this will set a baseline for me on a conversion I'm hoping to do soon. I'd hate to buy a plane and realize I need to add 3lbs of weight to the nose. Thanks.

I did some research on the DA-85 when I was doing the electric conversion of my Hangar-9 Sukhoi.

The numbers that I came up with were about 5.5 lbs (2500g) for the DA-85, muffler, ignition and ignition battery. A 32 oz tank of fuel weighs about 2 lbs so the grand total is around 7.5 lbs.

Do the aircraft weights published by the manuf. include fuel?

DA (and most manufacturers) publish only the bare motor weight. This does not include muffler or pipes, ignition module, or a battery for the ignition.

Another thing to add to the weight of the gas motor is the servo for the throttle. If you can get your batteries near the front then you should be able to balance without adding weight.
