Pretty neat Charles River rc. I remember Storrow Drive from back when I was a kid. WE lived in Plainville but shopped in Boston a lot with the family. Look at all those sheetboats. Kmot will have nightmares. Should be a lot of ice on that river by now.
Thanks for posting the pics and welcome to the Scale Boat forum. Pete McGill,Bonita SPrings,Fl.

It was back in the 50's and Boston has always been a nightmare and always will be. You couldn't pay me enough to drive in Boston anymore. The whole city was laid out by a drunken indian on horseback.. Ha! Or so we used to say. I also remember the electric trollys all over the city. The connecting poles were always coming off the wire and causing terrible trafic jams until the driver could get it back on the wire. Lots of cobble stone streets too. Pete

Great cause, I hope you get ample volunteers.
Kmot,
That thing is crazy. I love the guy with the sword riding it! Too funny. :)

Kmot; Better keep the "X" out there in Calyfornia. Bostonians have their own ways of dealing with things like that and it isn't always pretty. Just ask the Brits. Ha! Pete

This may be your best way of getting in contact with them:

Appears to be a nice attraction for the Bostonians, especially with loaner boats for the public. :)

Yellow snow?????
While I support the idea of marking territory wherever you are, the cops don't. Also when theres snow, there's ice and that gets in the way of boats 8>(

The sailboating club meet at the Storrow Lagoon which is specially designed for model boats. There you've got no current and easy retrieval. The best way to reach the Lagoon is by taking the train to Red Line MGH stop and it's a ten minute walk from there.
If you send them an email they will reply right away or not at all. They probably check their email more often during the summer sailboating season.
most importantly: are there public restrooms there?
This is where I launch my boats - Cambridge Side Galleria Mall. It's a thirty minute walk from where the sailboating club meet. The Mall got top of the line restrooms, outdoor seating tables overlooking your rc boat, Food Court, Parking, as well as a Train/Bus Station. Best of all, people stop by and ask about the boats.

That's my boat at the Mall site.

If you launch your boat at the Mall, you don't have to walk anywhere at all. Just park your car at the garage or take the train to Lechmere and you'll be right there.
Best of all, if you come there with your family, your wife could go shopping at the Filence/Macy's/etc and you could buy a cup of coffee and go play with the boats. :D

I hope to see some of you there!

I doubt it will be worth it lugging my huge boat on the train though. I'd gladly show up but my boat is really big for transit. I dont have the option of driving. However I'd gladly show up like I said. I've never operated an RC sailboat before.

after the spring semester ends I want to join. I live in Newton so bringing my 40" boat in might be a problem. Maybe one day I'll get a smaller boat. in the meantime, I'd love to try out a sailboat.
