My wife gave me an FS One sim for Christmas.Loading the game only took 20 minutes. History about my PC.I have an HP zd8000 lap top and the video card is corrupt. And I disabled the video card and just using the basic card. Now of coarse when I click on the FS One icon, either with the corrupt video card enabled or disabled, immediatly after I click the icon, the screen goes blank for a split second and then nothing happens. No sim is running. The video card is intergrated with the mother board.Big bucks to fix.I have done everything I could just short of tossing the pc into the Atlantic.I reinstalled the drivers, tried downloading video card repair to no availe. Is there a way of bypassing the corrupt video card so the pc recognizes the bypass but not the corrupt card? Or should I suck it up and pay the bucks for a new mother board.I need to use that sim.

try to go to your BIOS and disable the integrated card, then desinstal any specific drivers for your integrated card (try to download any good software for video card drivers cleaner). ithinck that should work if not let us know.

Hi Chrisdodge65,

According to the specs posted on the FS One homepage (http://www.fsone.com/Products/Home.aspx) and the specs of your laptop I found here (http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=2248&review=ZD8000) , your machine is more than enough to run the sim. If it takes 20 minutes to load the sim, there must be something wrong with your laptop.

I suggest you reinstall/restore your laptop to the factory default using your setup disks came with the laptop, or using the preinstall software on the hardisk. If you cannot find these, then go to HP website (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/pfinder?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&tool=&query=zd8000) and download the correct drivers then do the fresh reinstall.

Hope this help and good luck!

I'm surprised how it only took 20 minute to load...

From what I've read, and my own experience, it took forever to load, ~1.5 hours. Thats right, 1½ hours on a beast of a fast machine.
The graphics were nice and detailed, planes fly well, I think..I'm new to all of this. The helis' left alot to be desired, the reason I bought it.

when you say corrupted, you mean the drivers, right? If so tTry the Omega drivers.

Hi Redflyyer,

I use a Core 2 Duo (Dell XPS 400), 2 GB RAM, 512 MB (dedicated) Video card, 250 GB hard drive and a Centrino Duo (Thinkpad X61), 2GB RAM, integrated video card, 60 GB hard drive. They both load the Realflight G4 and G3.5 in less than a minute and handle the sims flawlessly.

Yes I agree with you that FS One looks very realistic. I was thinking of getting FS One but eventually got G3.5 because of the great support of the community at Swap Pages (http://knifeedge.com/forums/downloads.php) .

Just out of curiosity, what is the specs of your computer? 1.5hrs loading doesn't seems right... What is the Omega driver? Where can we get it?

Sorry, a little confusion here. Real Flight vs FS One, FS One install took that long. I was almost asleep by the time it was finished.

My system:
Vista x64
Q6850 (Quad Core)
8GB Ram
NVidia GeForce 8800 GTX (768MB)
Ageia Physx physics accelerator

Nothing takes time on this machine, until the FS One install. Running wise, its totally fine. real smooth.

The Omega drivers are enhancements to the std drivers from the manufacturers. I'm not a gamer, but my gamer friends swear by the drivers for faster frame rates etc.

Hi Redflyyer,
I see. I thought it took 1.5 hrs to load (start) the sim each time. Now I understand you meant "installing the software." That makes sense. I would not be surprised if it take that long to copy all the graphic stuff to the hard drive.

Hey your PC is one heck of a machine :)

Thanks for the info about the Omega drivers.

Thanks!! Yours is no slouch either! I don't play games, I'm just a speed freak because I hate to wait. I learned long ago, if you build a game playing machine it will be fast and last along long time.

It's true that if you build something strong ahead it will last longer, but, you need to shell out some additional rupies :)
Anyway, I'll have a quad core soon this year. I'm not a gamer, but just like you, I like speed :D

I wouldn't shell out the extra cash unless you really want to pay.. Not sure I notice the difference with FS One or FS X.

A quick call to Hanagar9, the slow install issue has a fix...I obviously missed.
Turn down my graphics performance in control panel.

That cut the re-install down to ~20 minutes...

Chrisdodge65 - Did you get it fixed?

Hi Red,
very unfortunatly I did not resolve the problem.I took the laptop to a pc repair and he could not do anything.HP had a problem with the graphic chip ( HP Pavilion ZD 8000) and pissed alot of people off.And for me to fix the problem,I would need to replace the motherboard new not refurbished $600.00. Refurbed @ around $300.00.So now I'm shopping for a desktop just for the FS One.Please any suggestions on the desktop.I was thinking about an E Machine.Any good for my application?

And thank you to all that replyed.I did everything. You where all a tremendous help.

Hi Red,

I got G3.5 and it took half an hour to install into my Dell XPS 400. For the first time I can hover a chopper :D. And man you can't imagine that a crashed jet that is totally stripped off, only the fuse left, still rocketing around until when you power it down :D I also connected to some online "airfields" and enjoyed some helo crashes due to collisions.

Hi Chris,

How about a customizable Dell? I guess a Core 2 Duo + a 512MB vid card + 2 GB RAM = roughly $600 and you can run FS One. However you might want a big LCD or you might want to output the video to your 52" flat screen :D That would eat you a little more rupies.
