Hello guys,
My shop is also my bedroom.
I have devided it into 3 sections, a sleeping section, this is where my bed stands and where i sleep (very opvious), there is a book-section, this is just less then 1 square metre big, the other books are underneath the modelbuilding section, and the there is a few square metres of modelbuilding desk and storage on and underneath the desk.
A small part of the desk is used for my laptop and speakers (good for concert-quality sound in a bedroom), and the remaining space is for modelbuilding only.
If you like to see what that looks like, ican soon post some pics of it.
Greetings Josse

Show us your Sprite sometime, Aero-, dust and all.

If I had a Sprite or Midget, I would be very tempted now-a-days to pull the anemic 948 BMC motor and install something in the 1000cc class from one of the motorcycles. Double overhead cams, 4 carbs, 100+ HP, 12000 rpm, all aluminum, blah blah :D

Some guys put Miata engines in sprites... there was one in the bay area that had a Ford V8 in it but I have not seen it in a while (prolly wrapped around a tree somewhere  ) I have a 1275cc "A" series under the bench that may go into it one day... :o

I don't know about Kmot but if I had a Sprite or a Midget now, I wouldn't be able to get into it anymore. My sister had one in the 60's and I didn't fit into it then either. Kinda like riding a roller skate.
I don't have a garage but I do have a shed with a 1960 Lincoln 430 engine in itand a rented storage unit with all my treasures and the 60 Lincoln in it. It's nice to know that so many people have old cars in their garages. It's good to keep them around and maybe restore if possible. Pete

I had a '60 bugeye, and also a '62, both with the 948 engine and dual side draft SU carbs, which were a pain to keep synched---. :p
Clip-on side curtain windows on both, tops came off by hand. The '62 had a real trunk, but the '60 didn't. ;)

(for the uninitiated, "thumper" is the nickname of a big-bore one cylinder bike)
My Father bought it as a box of bits (on the flip of a coin for £400) back in 1981 and over 20 years rebuilt it from the spokes upwards.
It has more sentimental value rather than actual value ($63,000 was the last valuation)..
Unfortunatly he passed away before it was 'road' ready.. but all that is left to do is the wiring..
Its USA registered but hasnt been ridden on the road for at least 40 years.
My aim is to complete it and ride it... as a tribute to my Father that put so much work in to it.
Some shots of what it was like in 1981...:eek::eek: and my Father running the engine for the first time after rebuilding the engine.

On a whim I went out to the shop to see exactly what treasures were lurking in the back. I dug and moved piles of treasures for two days until I found the "back". We are not sure exactly who this was but since my children and wife are accounted for we think it might have been a tresspasser who got lost trying to find a way back out!
What really makes this scary is that the shop was only completed a little over a year ago....

Neat fleet, Millertime. How does your CA hysterical vehicle tag work? Here, when a vehicle becomes 25 model years old, you can go to the local tax collector's office, and for $ 26.00 purchase an antique car (or truck) tag. As long as you are the registered owner of that vehicle, the tag is valid. Then, when the vehicle is sold to another individual, that person can repeat the process.
On an older vehicle like that, that is long since paid for, your real fixed expense is liability insurance.

Nice Hawk Millertime!
Reminds me of the 58 Packard Hawk my dad had. Mom used to blow everyone off the road in that thing...she thought the tach was the speedo...I am not lying! He drove us to Fairbanks in the winter of 61 and back to Texas in the summer of 64…what a trip…a family of 6 and a dog in that thing. He had to sell it after the trip…it was beat to pieces by the then unpaved ALCAN highway...here are some pics and specs of one. He had several Studebakers before that too. I remember the glow of the luminescent instruments in one of them....a 54?
1958 PACKARD HAWK
It’s godfather was crisis; its sire was wannabe corporate savior Roy Hurley. The 1958 Packard Hawk was a last-gasp effort to save the once-proud automotive manufacturer from extinction. Only 588 Hawks rolled off the assembly line before Packard went defunct, but some vintage-car aficionados think the Hawk was one of the snazziest sports cars made in America during the 1950s.
" It could flat-out run faster top end than the American-made sports cars of the Big Three."
Although similar-looking to Studebaker's 1957 tail-finned Golden Hawk, the Packard Hawk was distinguished in key ways by its designer, Duncan McRae. Hawk front hoods were among the first automotive uses of fiberglass. Lighter than metal and aerodynamically low to the ground, the hoods stabilized fast-flying Hawks by utilizing the downward air pressure thrust on the car's front end much better than those of Golden Hawks. Supercharged, the Hawk became the fastest production vehicle in Packard's history. Its 289-cubic-inch Studebaker V8 engine--as powerful as the standard 352-cubic-inch '56 Packard--made its much lighter body a virtual rocket.
Distinctive Packard Hawk features rarely seen in Studebakers also included all-leather seating with matching interior trim made of Naugahyde. Dashboards displayed Stewart Warner tacho-meters and supercharger manifold pressure gauges. The speedometer showed a top speed of 160 mph.
Fully loaded, Packard Hawks cost $4,700, nearly as expensive as Cadillacs and Lincolns, which contributed greatly to their limited marketability.
I sold my Hog a couple of years ago too...I feel your pain Longbike!
Ohhhh...I don't have a workshop! :p

This was sitting in the back of my shop until recently. Some of the mods I did to this car was cutting out all of the original unibody type suspension and building a more modern and rigid tubular chassis and suspension. The suspension was tuned for road racing. I also installed a modern Dual Over Head Cam fuel injected Ford V8 with a Tremec 6 speed transmission. I kept the interior and exterior as stock looking as possible so the car would be what you would call a "sleeper".

These two pictures are of the schooter that my grandfather built from scrap mettal and spare parts. It did look a lot better when I was younger! It's had a rough life with a bunch of grandkids riding it around. I hope to clean it up and put a new motor in it someday. I've been looking at Harbor Fright and the motors they are selling, somebody told me they are painted over Honda engines.
