I ordered a video system on Dec. 15 with overnight shipping, and also haven't received it. Anyone have a phone number to contact RangeVideo?

I hate to say this but I have also ordered many products from different vendors in the past few weeks.... received EVERYTHING from all BUT RangeVideo. Is there something fishy going on? I would understand if I'm the only one with this problem but apparently that is not the case. I hope something just "temporary" is happening at their end....
Anyway, according to the web (http://atlanta.citysearch.com/profile/45991245/lawrenceville_ga/rangevideo.html), the number is 770 381 7721

In other words as don't buy from Vova (Range Video) if you want it fast.
Theres an old saying - "You can choose two - Good, Fast, Cheap" You can't have all three.
I got my order a month after I placed it.

SuperCircuits is a good alternate if you want to deal with a larger company. The transmitter is more expensive, but they ship faster. They have a lot of other cool products as well, though if you are willing to dig around you can find a lot of it cheaper elsewhere.

I've had three orders from Rangevideo this year. Everything has always arrived promptly and he has answered the two questions I asked by email within 24 hours each time. The prices are great and I've always received quick service.

No order I've made with RV (several this last year) have
ever taken more than 4-5 days from time of order, to my door.
I've never needed to send an email to him, but I also
wouldn't have expected an instant reply had I sent one,
since RV is basically a one man operation. It's likely
that he's got time to order, stock, assemble, pack, ship, etc,
*or* answer emails. The latter can be endlessly time consuming.
I'm not defending Vova. I'm just saying I don't really expect
that level of service from him.

One man operation???? with all the sales I would expect it to be more than one man operation. This is my third time ordering from them. First time it was OK... about 5 day, which is normal. This time is taking MUCH longer. Since I"m not really too much in a hurry I don't get too affected by it BUT I always expect good service from a vendor or I take my business else where to someone that will show me they care and WANT my business. I did a few searches on RangeVideo and this kind of issue is VERY common for what I was able to find.
I'm personally not complaining but more like "adding comments" to the thread based on my experience, what I've seen and what I expect from vendors. At the end, I guess better late than never. If there is only one man running the show, he should find himself help.... just my personal opinion. I will also order from RangeVideo in the future only if I don't need things in a hurry and no other vendor that has given me good service has it.

thats the beauty of online commerce even if you give retarded service you can get away with it, take the cash and forget about expanses such as customer support, you wont have angry customers knocking at your doors to kick your a$$
ANY walk in store with this kind of support would have gone out of business a long time ago...
seriously theres at least one of these post every week, sticky it DO NOT BUY FROM RV IF YOU ARE IN A HURRY

I gave almost all my main FPV business to Eagletree since I saw that the guy the runs it (I think he runs it) is here all the time. I didn't know about RangeVideo "bad" method to conduct business but I'm glad I didn't buy most of my stuff from them. I will check out new generation hobbies and others.
I know some people don't like this type of threads but I think it's a good way to let others know about various experiences with the vendor and let the buyer decide.... eventually, if the vendor wants to stay in business, he will have to change his methods.. so thank you for sharing. Let's hope we all get the stuff we have already paid for! :)

I've ordered about 4 times from RV and always received my stuff - and been happy with it when I actually did receive it. RV usually responded in a day or two of my e-mailing a question.
RV is a small outfit, not Amazon.com. When I place a order with them I keep this in mind.
David22

RV is good!
Bought some stuff a few times, emailled maybe six times and never a problem.
However from now on, whomever I buy from has to either answer the phone or respond in a timely manner via email.
Most likely the vendors have a second job and a family.
Some are far better than others with customer support and service.
I would say RV is one of the best.
But their products are now limited for what I want.;)

Perhaps there's a correlation between the premium you paid for the
EagleTree stuff and the level of support they can offer.
I know some people don't like this type of threads but I think it's a good way to let others know about various experiences with the vendor and let the buyer decide.... eventually, if the vendor wants to stay in business, he will have to change his methods.. so thank you for sharing. And from what I've seen these type of threads change nothing
whatsoever. If they did, people would stop ordering from
them and RV would go out of business. Neither is happening, because
most people get what they want when they want it.
Obviously people don't bother to actually search for any info about
RangeVideo (or most other vendors) *before* they order, or they'd
know where to set their expectations. Posting about how the vendor
didn't meet your expectations after the fact, doesn't help yourself
or the next guy who will order from them soley because they have the
cheapest prices on certain hard to find items (900Mhz, 1.3Ghz gear
for instance), but didn't do their research ahead of time either. I do so look
forward to the next brand new thread complaining about not getting quick
email responses from RV during the next big holiday or whenever.
Comparing brick and mortar businesses with internet businesses
as mentioned above is even more silly. Walk into your average Circuit City
to buy say, a monitor cable, and it'll cost you $40. Exact same quality
cable from some no-name vendor on e-bay, $7. $25 SD card at CC
or Best Buy, $10 online. Obviously there's going to be at least the
perception of better service in a brick and mortar store. You're paying
100-500% more for it though. I admit that when I'm impatient, I'll
sometimes buy that expensive item at the store, but I've also gambled a
lot on cheap online vendors hundreds if not thousands of times over
the years, and I've come out WAY ahead, when it comes to savings.
I do set my expectations commensurate with the price though,
so I am rarely disappointed, and often pleasantly surprised.

Someone has to be a buddy of Vova, call him and let him know about this thread. I think RV is good and deserves a chance.
It is like Jan.2 Merry Xmass Happy New year
I was promissed stuff from two different other vendors that should of come before Xmas. Not here yet.

If you want I can PM you the main source for the 900mhz video tx and rx's, I believe this is where RV get's his equipment.
It comes out of CHina so it's best if you can put together a large order of atleast 10 -20 units, as the shipping for one tx/rx combo is not worth buying unless you order in bulk. They qouted me $20 for each tx or rx, but the shipping was about $50. so RV is not making much profit on this stuff and he's the better option for the $$ paid.

After hanging around for a few years in this hobby, dabbling closely with some vendors and you know, none of the mainstream ones will ever cheat anyone of their money. Volva is probably stuck in a situation where the money coming in is enough to sustain himself and keep his interest going to continue doing this job but can't afford to hire extra help. Knowing him, he and others like him receive way too many emails a day and can't always please everyone. I'm sure those who have not received anything yet will eventually get it one way or another. You just got to be patient and I'm seeing this trend with almost every FPV vendor.
I recently had a really good talk with Wilson of Hobbywireless, I feel sorry for him when he is getting swamped and he's trying his best too to keep up with things and balance his life with family time. I wish I could head over to his house and help him out!!!! I'm noticing the same with Intelligent Flight, Future Hobbies and New Generation Hobbies as well, so it's happening to everyone. Some will get great and fast service, some not but will never get cheated of their money at the end. So I think it's just a matter of being patient. These kinds of thread are repeating too many times guys and you don't know how things operate until you get to know these guys in person. It really is hard work, especially when they have a full time job and families to balance out every day.

Every vendor has products for sale, some have dates or a period of time that they promise to deliver by. If there is not a time period then they have to send it within a reasonable time.
So print that page off because I have seen them change that date.
If they do not fullfill their promise, just call your VISA company and ask for the complaints department. They will dirrect you to another department that will take care of it for you. No worries if you pay by VISA.
Visa just as an example will do all the work to either get you your product or refund your money.
Vendors do not like it when you tell them you are preparred to call VISA.
Just depends on the dates the vendors openly declairs delivery, within a reasonable time, the day you order online. Again print that page off.

I´ve ordered 4-5 times from RV and the orders always arrived in the same time than from any other vendor.
But from time to time someone start a thread like this... Ian and Jmstech explained it perfectly. They are small business and depends on few people, so I guess the business response depends on their personal calendar. If they´re on holydays or a trip, the business is stopped.
Keep in mind that few years ago there wasn´t any shop to buy FPV products, only thanks to theese vendors we can buy all we need in the same shop, but I guess sometimes they have too much work.
BTW Range Video was one of the first with BlackWidowAV and Future Hobbies, be patient, it´ll arrive :)

If you help me put together a decent VTX, VRX, 2 Lipo batteries for RX. TX, lipo charger setup for under $160 then please help me out. I dont want to hijack this thread but if any of you guys have old 900mhz stuff that you dont use anymore then please PM me.

As far as I know RangeVideo is not ripping people off. The issue appears to be bad customer service by not responding customer's emails and sending the paid item in a timely maner.... AND not always.
Daemon/Ian, I do believe threads like this help people to become aware. The proof of that is that there is at least one very noob here that was asking if RangeVideo was ripping people off... now that noobs knows that is not but his item might not get delivered "soon". I think if this is not good proof then I don't know what is.

I purchased a TX/RX 900MHz from RV and shipping was really fast, took 1 business day, BUT two items were missing for TX:
- 1/2 wave 2dBi dipole transmitter vertical antenna AND
- RCA adapter cable
In place of these two items, came another RCA cable and another power cable, both for RX.
3 weeks ago, I sent Mr. Resnik emails, ICQ, Yahoo Messenger and PMs, and I´m still waiting for reply.

I placed my order Thursday 27 November, 2008 paid $349.00 via Paypal
Order Number: 4267
Aerial Video System 900MHz 500mW (AVS) receiver:: Standard (AVS) video standard::
NTSC (AVS) camera:: KX191
Pandora Pan and Tilt Kit
Battery adapter plugs (3 pack)
I got an email on December 29,2008 that said my order has been updated to the following status:
New status: Shipped
That was 13 days ago and I have received nothing. I have sent many emails, ICQ, Yahoo Messenger and PMs asking for a tracking number and have had no response. It's been 45 days since I ordered and he got my money and I haven't got JACK :censored:
I don't really want a refund, I just want my order. Is it to much to ask for an update?

It also pisses me off that they totally ignore all emails. I have several thousand dollars in FPV gear, but sadly I don't buy from them because of such bad customer service. I vote with $$ take it elsewhere. The 3 Eagle Tree OSD's are great...

Go to the RV web site it says something about all orders will be sent towards the end of this month.
I really do find it funny how vendors cannot be reached by email or phone.
Because of this hobby, this is the first time I have ever ordered stuff online for anything.
If I cannot have reasonable communication with a vendor from now on, I will look somewhere else.
However I must of got lucky or maybe mebtioned a magic name when I ordered but everything has worked out for me with RV.
I have my eye on the Eagle tree pro system and wonder how their customer support is.
I am going to see if they have a phone number and/or email and ask some questions.
If the response is reasonable I will buy from them.
Zolton is really a good guy who not only responds to emails but also gives advice.
BTW your local spy stores have or can get FPV equipment not everything but lots of stuff. If I really wanted to, they sell way more powerfull equipment.
1.5 watt tx's as an example on any frequency. They are not heavy just uncase them. Just no OSD's

Eagle Tree has very good customer support and always answer e-mails. I had a couple questions regarding my ET OSD and got an answer the next day.
Also, I have ordered from RV and although the e-mail response was somewhat delayed, I always did get an response. I happened to order the 900Mhz TX-VRx combo just at the beginning of the FCC problems and it took months before I got my order, but I can't blame RV for that.
In the end I got my VTx from here: http://www.supercircuits.com/Wireless-Devices/Video-Links/AVX900T4
As it turns out their store was next to my work in Austin, so all I had to do was walk there at lunch and pick it up. This place is a big store with lots of phone operators, so they for sure will answer your questions.

Hey Jeff, I got a tracking number yesterday and it should be here maybe tomorrow. I am still kicking around which plane I am gonna use. I was gonna use my 30 year old Quaker but I wouild hate to crash that plane so I might go the route most here have gone and get an Easy Star or I even thought about trying a MegaFly 40" delta wing. It looks like fun and I cant waite to try it. :)

I will probably stick it in my T-28, and then put it in an EDF at some point. I have flown all over the Yuma, Arizona Desert at 6,000 agl with a really expensive FPV system. I am looking around some half-cheap IR cameras to so this stuff at night. I have a DVD player in my truck, so I am sure I will fly from the back seat at some point! We will call it my own personal ground station.

What is the very expensive FPV system? Is is very expensive because you are using the expensive goggles... I think starts with "Z" or the rest of your equiptment is expensive, can you share?
I placed an order with RangeVideo a day before yesterday.... we will see how long it takes. They are the only ones that have the 201 camera that I wanted so I had no other choice.

It was about $300,000 for the airborne system and another 100K for the ground station. It was a UAV system.

no, training for Iraq.
The one I flew in Israel was 4 million for the airframe....That will make you a$$ pucker when you are trying to hit the runway in a 20 knot cross wind

That is so cool... can it even be compared to the type of FPV done in this forum? How different is the radio that you had to use with such system? range? Heli, plane or something else? How big? Do you think that an experience FPV pilot here from this forum can fly such as machine or skills are just completely different?
Hopefully, you are not near DCA :D

In some ways yes it is similar. Looking through a camera out the front of the plane is the same no matter what. FPVing is FPVing!! lol In fact with the head tracking features coming out now for the models, we are a step of ahead of what we had overseas. I know I always found myself trying to look "around the corner" in the screen when turning final and such. You fly using landmarks in front of you since you can't look out the windown and then start to turn.
We only flew FPV style for training. In the event of a GPS or autopilot failure, we could fly the plane back to base using the nose camera, VFR or IFR if at night. Of course IFR only worked if we were getting good data back from the plane. If we were not getting telemetry back from the plane, and we had to fly back manually, and it was dark.....things could get really interesting. Point the plane where we think it should be going and hope for the best. We took off and landed via an inert Futaba Transmitter stadning on the runway. The program has since shut down, but the replacement program does everything via FPV style flying. They taxi, takeoff and land using the camera mounted in the nose.
The RX/TX technology was no different that what we use in RC FPV. It is just WAY more powerful and on military freqs.
The Israeli bird had about 100 mile range on the flight controls, the video would actually reach out to nearly 150 miles!

Darn, I'm going to have to re-read your post before I got to sleep... that should ensure good dreams :D
Going back to RangeVideo... that company is soo terrible... I placed my order for the DX201 on Tuesday at11:46 PM and got delivered this morning around 11:00 AM :censored:
I guess it's like a the Russian roulette with them. I have ordered from them about 6 times and only once I had to wait for about 2.5 weeks.

its not russian roulette... its a simple problem:
in stock = fast delivery
no stock = no news, no communication, weeks of delays, pissed customers
solution: Dear customer, we are sorry to inform you that one or more of the items on your order #1234 is not in stock at the moment, we expect to have it in stock within 2 weeks, if your order is time sensitive and you would prefer to cancel your order please reply to this email. Have a nice day, Vova Reznik, range video
BUT thats asking too much

Personally, I have always had geat experiences with Rangevideo, even during the mess he had with the FCC freezing his shipping this last summer.
I have ordered from Rangevideo almost a dozen different times, and living here in Canada, I have come to expect delays when buying from the states when using online service like ebay, but have not had any delays with RV.
Vova has even refunded shipping when he has manually combined orders from 3 different orders on different days.
I did email him this summer when I was worried about the FCC thing, but the shippment was already on it's way so no problem.
Those of you who are waiting for orders since the beginning of January, have you noticed the R/Vweb site has had several diff types of red messages saying there were going to be delays. It now says he is out of town.
This type of message has been posted when we were waiting for the OSD and, like I said before, during the FCC mess.
Vova has been on these threads answering many of the questions when he is able, so it is not like he is hiding.
True, customers would not post these complaints if Vova emailed word of delays and just plain answered more often.
I for one will continue to use R/V for the primary FPV supplier because of his product line and low pricing and custom setups.

Well I must say I am now a happy camper. My order arrived today and I just unpacked everything and my order is complete and correct. So 50 days after I placed my order on 11/27/08 I received my order today 1/16/09.
So will I order from him again?
Problely yes as long as it's something I don't need fast.
It's like pratorian said

Theirs no worry you will get ripped off as I am not aware of anyone not getting their stuff but if your item is out of stock be pre paired to Waite.
I just wish he had a system in place that would let you know if it was in stock and if not an approximate date when it might be back in stock.
So friends their is hope and I hope you get your orders soon too. :)

I know this much.
I used rangevideo's contact form as a "test" to see what this guys communications skills are like. I asked a few questions, etc. It's been several days, I still haven't heard a word. This is NOT giving me the warm fuzzies. I have to tell you that at this point I would really have to think long and hard before ordering anything from rangevideo. Just compare this guy to the superb communication by thomasscherrer. As soon as my airframe is done THAT guy is getting my business. The bottom line is, it doesn't matter if range video makes a good product, if he can't deliver and his customer skills suck he won't get my business.
So in the words of the immortal Andrew "Dice" Clay...
END OF STORY!

Thanks for reporting this. After you have actually bought FPV gear and used it for a while let us know how everything worked out.

You are, of course, free to do (or not do) business with whomever you chose...
However... there are NO reports of Range Video EVER "ripping off" ANYONE.
Slow to ship sometimes? Yes.
Poor communication? Yes.
Out and out ripoff? Never.
(unless you consider days to weeks of delay to get your order, a ripoff)
He does deliver, it just takes awhile, sometimes...
Read pratorians post #63, he nails it.
