I've been looking around for these stands. Does anyone know who makes and sells Them?
Ich habe herum nach diesen Standplätzen gesucht. Weiß jemand, wem sie bildet und verkauft?
Here's a place in the UK where they call them Model Stands (http://www.jessnicholls.co.uk/stands.htm) but, they don't answer e-mail...

It looks very cool, but, why do I have the feeling that I need to do some Ironing of clothes?

Na, this unit appears to have a V footing for various terains and a tension chain.
I would be willing to bet that although unseen in these pics, all four ends of the footing have an allowance to drive a peg into the ground.

*The bet thing is not real, and no intention of gambling on RCG, just a figure of speech. OK? Thank you.

I know this glider stand very well, a few friends of mine use these with good success. I would say that it is usable up till 20 kg modell weight.
There are several other suppliers. One is TUN-Modellbau in Switzerland : http://www.tun.ch/product_info.php?cPath=2_51&products_id=163&osCsid=9378eba9c7d8cbfc21e21572693eb8ee
I myself use a heavy camera tripod, presented earlier in these forums. On this stand is a 6 meter LET ASH26 with a 30 Lbs weight. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=598820

That's the trick Harm. I sent e-mail to TUN Models for more info and if there are any places in the US for sales...
