No one answered my earlier question so here it is again, is there some kind
of clutch within the tranny on a TMAXX? I know there is the clutch on the
engine crank, but why does the spur gear turn freely when turned by hand but
when running the engine the truck works fine? I would have expected a direct
drive from the spur gear to the driveshafts.?????

because it has a forward and reverse, there are clutches in 2 of the gears
that mate up to the main driveshaft, if you have a forward only conversion,
then it is direct drive.

I think somebody did answer it....Yes, the final drive gears have clutches.
This makes it easy to shift into reverse.
Yes, its more complicated than it has to be, but without them youd hear
grinding and crunching whenever you shift.
