Hi guys,
I just put on order on Harbor models for 45$ , nothing fancy, a shaft, propeller, couplers and a speaker. There was no s&h added to my order so I was wondering what will be the s&h (I know the website says at least 6$)

Normand, shipping has gotten rather expensive over the last few years, with rates going through the roof. My minimum charge for even a small order is $6.50. ;)
And don't forget that packaging material (tape, boxes) isn't cheap either---. :p
Two years ago, I could send a medium sized hull from New York to California
for about $10 priority. Now it costs $12 for parcel post, and forget about priority mail which has jumped to about $32 for that same item.

I know what you means, I send a lot of boxes overseas to my family and it is each time more expensive
I was just surprised as there was no s&h on my order nor on the confirmation, in the meantime, we are not speaking about a store with 10 products that can directly add the s&h, I understand that it has to be calculated. I am not worried I know that Harbor Models is a respectable company that is well noted by all the people who hang there ;)

Although the cost of oil has dropped by about 2/3rds of its high, shipping companies have not reduced the fuel surcharges that they imposed on their customers. The increases in shipping cost have been adding up for several years and this past summer they really accelerated this pace.
My minimum Shipping & Handling charges are at $9.00 and I was looking at having to raise this further which I did not want to do.
From how much I take in on shiping & handling charges to what my yearly shipping cost is, I usually find myself about 10 to 15% in the red.

Well if you are not a big custumer like amazon or target or overstock, don't worry the price will stay the same :(

Compared to those companies, I am not just a small fish in a big pond. I am minnow food

Ditto on that, Lee---. :o
But like yourself, I still pay 10 to 15% above what I charge for shipping---. ;)
And that doesn't include the boxes---.

Imagine what it takes to box an Iowa hull, I make them here from very large sheets of corragated , 113" x 15" x 11" it takes several hours
