Now that's a really nice Christmas present but it would be so much better if we could see it too. Post a few pics for us and we can probably tellyou how to run it. Can't be too complicated.
OH yes; Happy New Year to ya too. Pete

Damn Salty! That's a nice boat. Doesn't look to me like it needs anything changed. Is it ready for R/C? Does the cabin lift off so you can get to the insides? If she wasn't built for R/C in the first place you will have to start taking it apart to get where the equipment goes and make the topsides removable. Try lifting off the cabin and see what happens. Oh yeah pete the deck house and the aft deck comes off !! she's ready for power and pumps the wife told me the fire pump does work and it picks up water from the bottom of the hull.I have begun shaving pink foam to fit into the hull Just in case but as far as the rest of it goes I'm sooooo lost  now if it was a train thingy no problem LOL

So take the cabin off and the rear deck and post some pics of the inside so we can see whats there. Then you will get all sorts of advice on what to do. It's kinda like a train anyway except you have a transmitter in your hand to make it go instead of a transformer. The engine in the boat is like the engine on the track. You'll have abattery pack for juice instead of the transformer and a receiver to give commands to the engine instead of the track to deliver the juice. Very simple once you get the idea of how it works. Heck even I can make one of these boats go so I'm sure you can do it too. pete

She's pretty much empty but for the two shafts and the brass tube for the pump and a little wood thingy I guess for the servo and the steel rod for the rudders other then that she's spanking clean : Do you buy or build motor mounts and what size battters should i get I'll run her to scale which means I won't be racing her but using her for the pull or push

Thats SOME present to be found under the Christmas tree Salty!..:eek::eek:
For some info on motors, batteries etc have a look at
http://www.mymodelboats.net/dmb/wyeforce/wyeforce.html
... and for some installation pics..

I think our very own Pat Tritle http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/member.php?u=22474 did a 'build' back in 2002 - 2003 (?)... See if you can persuade him to post some pics.. At least he may be able to assist in some installation ideas.
EDIT: Model Slipway (GB) can supply the recommended motors

Bottom of the Wyeforce page... :)
The motors / couplers are available through Harbor, and includes the ESC

There ya go Salty. All the info you can ask for at your finger tips. Good going Toes. All good links there.
The last link will give you the construction sequence and shows a picture of the motors installed. The rest you will need to experiment with to get the right balance with the equipment that you decide to use. You'll have a lot of great times with this boat. Pete

Try one of the fellows in the Burnaby club - he has built one. Send me an e-mail - I can forward it to their bulletin editor if he doesn't see this here.
I have the same model but it's sitting still in it's box.

A few pics of what's actually in the boat for running gear may help us see what you need. As far as electrics go see Ghost's thread for a few ideas.

Wow, that appears to be a very well built tug!! I like the paint job, very realistic. Salty, dont get too worried, the hard part(and potentially disastress) is already done for you. You just need to mount the motors, esc, receiver, rudder servo and the battery. With everyone here lending advice, its a piece of cake. Remember to have fun..OK? :D
Folks, great links, thats what makes this site so great, people with the same interests helping each other. :)

Seems the little woman had everything planned out,I received a package today from Harbor Models :D and in it was 2 Torpedo 500 motor and gearbox motors,a robbe #1568 pump two screws and two u joints :D I must say the folks at Harbor Models are GREAT the screws and u joints don't fit and they said no problem so I'm sending them one of my screws off the tug and didn't break anything so they can match it up now thats nice service :D

LOL She does have a sister but trust me you don't want her  I got the "good" one :D :) I am still surprized how she pulled this off, so what kind of battery should I get ? I was thinking 7amps 12 volt I want to be able to "play" for a long time before swapping out the battery

The 'recommended' is a 6v 12ah Salty.. How does the 12v 7ah compare weight wise?...
A 6v 12ah should give you at least 2 -3 hours run time per charge..
