View Full Version : Crash...

Hi all, i've got a few questions if anyone could help.
After two hours successfully hovering i just crashed my 2 month old Shuttle
Plus for the first time, too much throttle and then over compensated and hit
the ground pretty hard. Pretty bad boom strike, i couldn't even find the
tail rotor, bent the boom to resemble a question mark!
Anyway i've made a list of all the parts i need and i've seen there are
crash kits available? are these any good or is it better just getting
exactly what i need? Also i've seen upgrade parts made from alloy, like a
whole tail rotor assembly, is there any advantage with these or are they
just more expensive if i have to replace them again? I'm in NSW in
Australia, can anyone recommend a good supplier?
Also is there any other bodies that will fit on my shuttle? I like the Jet
Ranger look.
Any info would be great, thanks
Dave

Hi Dave,
If it's a boom strike, I'd just get the parts that I need, preferably from
Hirobo. From the sounds of it, you didn't do any rotor head damage which, to
my knowledge, is what most crash kits concentrate on. In this case, you'd
have a lot of bits you don't need right now. If you're in the learning
stage, no real need for upgrade parts.
If you can afford it at this point, your best bet is to invest in a Sim,
probably CSM is the most recommended in this group.
Am in the U.S. so don't know of any suppliers over your way. As far as
fuselages, check with Century Helicopter.
Best,
Jack

Bummer about the crash, not to worry, we all had dumb thumbs and
knocked of boom and rotors before here.
Always looks ugly when it hits the ground and bits bend but the
quicker you get the heli to bits, cleaned and fixed up the sooner you
forget the smash.
The upgrade parts are mostly look good stuff, some of it handles high
loads like link arms and swash plate, which you wont have to worry
about for some time.
Some bits to get upgrade like boom clamp and the like make for less
damage in minor crashes where the plastic standard fitings may split
open adding to the cost of the crash each time.
If there is some part that is in line with the rotors on the boom and
it is plastic itll likely go west if the boom hits it and that not a
bad one to upgrade to alloy to save you replacing in a boom strike.
That means you can get a stock crash kit and itll cover most incidents
with no extra plastic fittings to order.
Im in Vic and fly Ergo's and not sure who the dealer is in NSW for the
Shuttle.
Re post with the request in your subject line
"Parts for Shuttle in NSW ?" or something like that youll get a bite
faster there are a few in NSW in the group.
Cheers

Hi Dave
You have a couple of choices.
Wingsnthings at Gladesville (9816 2699) are the Hirobo dealers in Australia.
CHECK the prices.
There is also Cyberheli, rotor.com.sg, ishiimokei.com etc.
kind regards
Glenn

Carl you will note by Heli Idiots following post he his here to troll.
He attached himself to the thread that You, Beav and I where having a
bit of a joke in and abused me without provocation because he sees me
as a threat to his child like puerile posturing in RR
He does this because he is a despicable person who sees the only way
to improve his shallow character is to denigrate others with
provocation with the delusion it will make him appear less wretched
than he is.
Entirely likely he is a brow beaten husband who has to posture at rc
heli forums to escape the thumb on his forehead and abuse others to
redeem him from the low self esteem he feels at the hand os his
fishwife.
The peons he aligns with are here to defend their steaming pile of
crappulance know as outlawheli.net which serves him to interject the
thread and peddle his own sad cause.
He chose to further the cause into this thread over my advise to a new
entrant to the hobby just to exemplify he doesn't give a toss if new
entrants get assistance so long as he gets his agony off his chest.
You would well to do to steer clear of his kind Carl and not qualify
his divisiveness by accepting his ill behavior for any compromise lest
you simply encourage more of it from him.
Cheers
