Beginner - where to go in Yorkshire, UK?

I've just bought my son a fast electric boat, and would like to know
where we can go at the weekend to try it out, within 50 miles or so of
Doncaster, South Yorkshire.

This would need to be somewhere shallow enough that we can rescue the
boat if (when?) something goes wrong.

Hi Steve There is a group in Doncaster and they did met at the Centre on the
Bawtry Road just south Doncaster Football Ground. The Model Boat Magazine will
have the address of the contact on their web site. I believe the nightly
meeting is on a Tuesday.
