View Full Version : Oil Can

I want to use WD-40 as a after run oil. It's ok to spray it into the glow
plug hole, but I want to spray a liberal amount into the carburetor barrel.
The problem is that the motor is mounted almost if a vertical line with the
propeller shaft. (It's an OSFX .81). I can't find an oil con that I can bend
the dispensing nozzle into the carburetor barrel. All of the oil cans leak.
Or the bendable part leaks. Or the part where you re-fill the oil leaks. I
keep the oil can in my trunk so it bounces around very little.
Any help?
Thanks

Take a piece of fuel line and zip tie it to the red wand for the WD-40 (I kept
it coiled up in a ziplock bag when not in use/no mess). Just simply take your
fuel line off the the needle valve inlet (you should clean that too!) and stick
the nozzle attacment there. open the carb up all the way and spray while
turning the motor over with your starter. Remember to have the plug out and a
rag over the opening (a third hand comes in handy here).
Also just WD-40 is not good enough! It is perfect to "flush" the nitro out
but does not coat the inside of the motor/bearings good enough. After the WD
flush, use automatic transmission fluid to coat the inside of the motor. I use
a bottle I found at a hardware store called a "zoom spout". it is a small 6-8oz
bottle that has a tube in it that is retactable and is pretty much the size of
a WD-40 wand. I squirt that directly into the carb while turning over the motor
making sure its doused pretty good.
In addition to that stuff I fill my tanks back up and cap the lines, plug
the pipe and carb, and plug the pressure fitting and fuel inlet on the needle.
Oh and its a good idea to "flush" the water out of the cooling lines/head with
the WD-40 also.

That's a good idea! I sail in salt water and will look real hard next time
I'm in Home Depot for some kind of plastic bottle I can refill with
tranmision oil.
Thanks a lot.
