Hi all. I have a nesail pinnacle large hi-start which has been used on 3m models and even the 2m Spirit and Daydream with no problems. But our Spirit 100 arf wing-tips flutter miserably when launched with any reasonable pull. This has caused me to retire the 100 because of the disappointing launch speeds/height (and overall thermalling performance). The "pitch window" is too narrow...soon enough the wings will either fold or flutter and explode. If I take it easy the launch height suffers.

Now I am looking at a BOT arf to use in a fun-fly for a glider tow demo (because its cheap and quick build). But for general use it seems to be a cleaner airframe than the Spirit and should be a better thermaller too. But will the wing endure my hi-start launch??? I must launch hard because lift is typically found only beyond the perimeter of our local polo field. I hear that the wings can fail on a winch, but what about a large size hi-start?

I use a HD Dyaflite highstart with my BOT ARF and it take's it very well!! If you look through the inboard ribs you can see a couple wraps of fiberglass around the spar. A little heavy at 61 oz. but still thermals well.

The Dynaflite ARF BoT's wing's center section IS WEAK. Do NOT winch her up. High start is OK, but do not overload the wing.

I agree with last post WEAK WEAK WEAK, use a highstart that has no balls or the wing will hold down your polo fields trash can,You can always pull the covering off and beef it up.

That's why I put an AXI2820/10 in the nose. She's a joy to fly, realy.

Winched mine plenty of times, just gotta remember to be light on the pedal, no zoomage. Sold it to a buddy of mine after 1 season that had several hundred flights (most off of a winch) tappity tap tap tap.....

As to the Pinnicle high start, err on the side of caution, and slowly work your way up. You will be able to fold it up on that high start...

I used a Dynaflight heavy duty highstart for most of the flights that I didn't winch it, the Dynaflight HD highstart is on the weakside for launching a BoTARF

You'll have fun with that airplane. Its not bad at all when used within its limitations, and even in the low 60oz weight range, its a good flyer once off of the hook.
