Yes, downsizing the 72" to 23" mono for a 05/540 motor, present any big
trouble problems. I took the Wild thing and downsized it with help from
Florida gentleman like AndrewG of Australia called Eagle Blitz. Now go
to Micro-hydros.com and look up Australia and AndrewG and Eagle Blitz.
Now it really took time and when it came time to lay a straight 6 cell
pack in, the cg turned out perfect a 30% and i was dumbfounded and ran
smooth. this happened 5 or 6 years ago. I have plans for the original
Wild Thing but gas motors here are outlawed like many places have done.
Sign of the times.

It's looking real nice so far.I can't really tell from the pics if you
have reinforced the seam between the bottom and the sides with anything.
I put /4 inch strips of wood in those joints to provide a larger gluing
surface. If you have just glued the sides to the bottom I don't think it
will be strong enough to stay together for long when you run it. You can
also reinforce the joints with fiberglass and epoxy. You should also do
the same thing with the joint between the sides and the deck. Doug

The joint in the bottom and the joints between the bottom and the sides
are glued and reinforced with fiberglass also joint from the frame is
glued and reinforced. on the joints between the sides and the deck we
put idd some wooden strips. and going to be glued with a special epoxy
glu. ohh this is a nice pic -->

Your hull looks great......I have my frames all glued together and
stached away somewhere :D due to work and time.

Will need to bring it out and continue the build! What are u planning
to power it with?

Anyone knows how this hull with perform with a inline twin G260? would
a S280 or X482 work with the inline twin?

I don't think anyone has put an inline twin in one. It would be plenty
of power. It may even be overpowered with a twin. I'm not sure about the
props, but they might be a good place to start. Doug

It would be fun too see how it performs with inline twins....I did widen
the bean to 18" to cater the prop torque.

i have a question: Is it easier to sheet the bottom with 1 sheet each
half or split it into 2 sections?

I think it would be easier to use one sheet for each half, but splitting
each side into 2 pieces will work if you have trouble getting plywood
long enough. Doug

The boat really looks great. The one thing I would have done differently
is I would have made the deck wider on the sides of the engine bay area
to stiffen up the sides of the boat a little more

only problem i see with the scale down is the engine stringers. it will
be too close. the standard engine mount is 5" apart. you need to work
around that dimension! have fun and cheers

I have used a few different brands of epoxy and had good luck. The best
epoxies are probably from West System, Mas, or System three. Epoxy from
'JGreer.com - Epoxy Resin, Urethane Foam, Silicone Mold Making Rubber,
Carbon Fiber' (http://www.jgreer.com/) is supposed to be high quality
and the price is pretty good also. But I've used no name epoxy from my
local hobby shop and had no problem. I do coat the whole inside of my
boats with epoxy before putting the deck on. Doug
