Hi Everyone, New to the forum! thought that I would share a project with you. I have ready to roll an Advance Scale Models 100 inch Hercules. I have been passionate about and a fan of electric flight for about 5 years now and it all started with a little 400 sized tin can plane called a 'whity', came out of Japan if I recall correctly. Anyway, back to the Herc! I change the Coast Guard colour scheme to a RAAF (Royal Australian Air Force) scheme, I think it looks OK! The 4 motors that I have used are the 'E-flight 32' along with 4x Phoenix 60amp speedies with 4x 30c 3700mah 4cell Li-Po's! and to pull it through the sky 11x7 props. I decided after much discussion with friends to have a separate 6v battery pack to run the servos and disconnect that part of the speedy at the plug at the wing join. Motors were set up using the JR's twin engine setup in the 9x radio, with the inside motors on No1 engine and the outside motors on No2 engine. This allowed me then to set throttle curves for inside and outside. I run inside motors from 0-100% and outside motors from 0-95%. The overall weight came out at 10.2kg and JR standard high torque servos for all surfaces with standard servos for everything else. The build, if you can call ARF's building, was easy and straightforward. I will try to post a photo now and when I get some footage I will post that as well, weather isn't too good now but I will try to get it in the air soon.

This weekend is out for the test fly, raining and windy!! I will add more photos soon of the Motor, Speedy, and Battery setup. I will also get my 'Watts Up' meter on all the motors and get the spec's to who ever might be interested. Just in case! I will also have a video on the ground as well as on the aircraft!! WOW!! thanks to Dale and Brian.
Thanx to all the great comments!! I hope she looks as good in the air as she does on the ground!!!

Well!!! The weather has not been kind, I am a little annoyed that the wind is so strong. I have done some work on her to realign thrust angles and I now have them pretty much spot on, I think the inside, right has about half a degree left thrust. She is so ready to fly!! I have organised as well to have multiple videos for ground to air, as well as one strapped to the fuselage. I will also have some new photos soon. I will also post the readings from my 'Watts Up' soon too.

Great News!!! The Hercules has flown! The weather was great. Sunny and hot and no wind to speak of. I had mates Video and photograph the flight so as soon as I get them I will post for all to see. I can say that I was a little nervous but in the end it was great to fly. The whole flight was incident free and I managed a few low passes. I did find it difficult to slow down enough for slow passes for my fellow club members to photograph. I also managed a rather heavy touch and go. But all good things must come to and end, time for the landing!! Well..! after a few tries at slowing my Herc down, (NO WIND) I change my circuit and went to land on the cross strip. The only thing wrong is that the plane is pointed at you and you can't judge your speed very well. I came in and the Herc slowed more than I considered. By the time I realised it was a little late. I also had to much down mixed in on the elevator with flap/elev mix which meant I was holding up elevator on the stick.
This all added to a stall at the end of the runway and a wing tip hitting the ground before the wheels did or should. It was a very heavy landing with some wheels being thrown into the air, the nose cone came off. But!! all in all very little damage done. I have seen this model on You Tube and seen them written off. With a few hours, some 30 min epoxy, light glass, and some shoe goo. I will be ready. Oh! and some paint as well, it will be better than new.
Thanx
