I'm looking for boat modellers in the Nanaimo area ! I am in need of 1/8" brass tubing; 6" would be great. If anyone knows where I can get it that would be great as too. Leisure World shop at Harbourview mall has closed up and gone. Michael's at the north end doesn't carry it either. If I must I could go to Vic but just for that gets expensive. Any help would be appreciated.

Contact Ron Burchett in Ladysmith, he is close and always seems to have materials to build with.

Thanks CaptLee !
Just talked to Ron and he told me about Duncan Toys & Hobbies, 60 Station St, 250-748-2443. I'll be going Sat if the snow isn't too bad.

This Saturday "night" is the Xmas light up run for the club based out of Nanaimo if your interested... 3:00ish the lit up boats will be hitting the water.. 5pm they will be done and headed for the club dinner
Long Lake... at the Long lake Inn .. middle dock "around back"
regular club sail days are Sunday at the same location people are generally there 9am till noon
Ron is an excelent guy to get to know both for stuff.. and just general ideas and advice
theres a few others that show up on Sundays (and this sat) for parts/supplies etc that would be good for you to get ot know too

I think your night run this weekend will be more like a Polar Express Run. Watch out for iceburgs and freezing spray.
Welcome Pibber. Have any photos of your PBR if you are building one?

Weather here just turned foul - may need a great amount of encouragement to step near the pond!

I don't know about in BC, but in Lynden, Washington the True Value and Ace Hardware stores carry brass tubing and strip in various sizes. I built my most recent shaft log from 3 sizes of brass tube from True Value.

Hi Pibber:
I live in Sechelt, can probably see your place from here. Contact me with your name and address and I will be happy to send you a foot of 1/8" brass tubing. Bought many lengths years ago and never used them.

heh... know all about the weather change... I'm a mechanic for the only tireshop in ladysmith... lets just say the second the snow started to fly all mechanical was put on hold and I was slinging tires with the boys till 7:30 pm
the weather looks like it should hold out enough for the night light up ... dun think I'm gonna be out of the normal sunday morning run.. appears it's gonna be way too nippy and I've got some boats that need attention! (mini Cat is being upgraded.. and I finally have all the stuff to put the ALbacore back together and running!)
