Hey All,

Thought i would post a build of my Profile vampire.

Setup will be:

Tower Pro 2408-21
GWS 8x4
Turnigy 18A ESC
3s 1250mA Rhino lipo

Parts were cut using a 3 view plan scaled up to a 900mm wingspan.

Thanks guys,

Liam :)

Good start - nice clean desk!

Glued the carbon rod into the wing today. Went in without a fuss.

Decided to do a full span rod so there is no flex on the tips.

The tail boom was alligned with the elevator and the booms were glued in place.

The bottom and top fuselage pecies where then glued into place.

Airframe finished

There is just something about a twin boom plane. Great start Liam... I will be following with great interest.

That looks good, I'm a big profile fan.....how are you going to do elevator, servo at the tail, or pushrod on one side of a boom??

Thanks. Planning to sit the servo just behind the carbon spar, in the foam, and i will run a pushrod to the tail using small peices of tube to guide it.

Liam,

Thats looking amazing!! I cant wait to see her complete and hear how she flys!!

You may want to put a bit of carbon to strengthen the booms a bit, just for landing, if you happen to stall a bit and land on the tail, seems like it might be a bit fragile, just a slit and strip should do it, but you can tell more when you pick it up and see what you think.

Liam, that's looking like a very nice build! Can't wait to hear how it flies. Doesn't look like it would be to much work to build up the fuselage either.....if you wanted too! Keep us posted on your progress.

Cheers, A.

Thanks everyone. Dan how about you work on ur su47 then you can pay me out :D I do plan on putting a 2mm carbon rod in each boom. I do have the plans to do a full fuse version. I want to get this up and flying first, then will convert it to full fuse. Once the next hobby city order arrives i will be up and flying it. :) Liam

Hey burkefj,

Sorry, no progress. Parts from Hobby city were only shipped a few days ago due to a backorder. Airframe is ready for power system.

Will update soon.

Hey guys,

its cool to see this thread going.

Havnt touched my vampire, doing engineering so i dont have any spare time. Only getting enough time to fly my t28 once in a while and thats it.

Would love to see how fast you can get it to go CN :D

Fantastic Work :)

- do you know if any A4 Tiled plans have been posted for the Vampire - I would love to have a go at building one (being British) but need tiled plans to do so :(

Hi Martyn.

Attached is a tiled version of the plans i used.

I have made some progress on my vampire finally. Its coming along. Just waiting for my hobby city order to land so i can maiden her. I need some more carbon fiber in the booms i think. I am using an AR6110, very nice receiver.

Liam....where you been and hows the Vampire coming along??

EDFjet
Jan 04, 2010, 07:14 PM
Well, i did eventually get a maiden on the vampire. Flew well, for a flat airfoil. Unfortuantly i lost it during a durn were a crosswind bend the booms right into the prop. I had some reinforcing there but it was a reasonably gusty day.

Wasnt much left afterward. Im going to start again and sandwich some carbon fibre in the booms.

I think I am going to use your plans as a starting point for a full fuse pusher version... I will make notes of anything I do so others can follow/copy if they desire. I like the size you went with.

Sorry to hear about the crash. CF rod will fix that issue...
