Getting ready to install my JR 2.4 Rx with remote in my new Onyx-L. Bob at SUSA said that he thought that the pod is 2.4 friendly. However, the pod appears to have a carbon/kevlar mix as near as I can tell so I'm having doubts. The canopy does look like FG but again I'm not sure. I really don't want whiskers sticking out of the pod but I will if I have to. Anyone out there have any experience with this or information that they would care to post
Thanks,
Dave

Dave, I have the same plane and it not 2.4 friendly. I put the main rx. up front and put the remote in the canopy. Yes the canopy is FG , but you are still going to have the whiskers out side. I have not range check my yet, I have the same set-up that Mike Lee did on his NAN Xplorer. If you are using JR 2.4 in the plane, it would best to get the Spektrum Flight log, which will tell you how many fades, frame loses and holds the RX is experiencing. I would pay attention is the fades and holds. The higher number of fades, the closer you get to a hold. Its not uncommon to see 500+ fades on a flight, so long as you have no holds. A hold is akin to having a PCM lock on a regular radio. If you see one antenna having a lot of fades compared to the other, then you know that the one with a lot of fades needs some attention. It may be too short, laying against the side of the fuselage, clipped off, or just poorly placed. If you ever see 999 fades on one antenna, it means that antenna is not seeing the TX at all. The other antenna has been doing all the work. If you see holds on the meter, you need to find out WHY. Fred

Dave, I forgot the must important think, the whiskers must be 31 mm long out side of the plane. you do not have to solder. Just put the wire against the antenna with heat shrink and than cut off what you don't need. Fred

Thanks Fred. Then my suspicions are confirmed! So the antenna length is only a concern outside of the fuse (31 mm)? All four, right? The extensions work by induction? So many questions.........

Howdy,
the newer fuses are 2.4. IF you see carbon/kevlar mix, they are not...

Happy Holidays,
Bob
