View Full Version : Poll Phoenix, RealFlight or FSOne?

So, seems like the big 3 are the Phoenix RealFlight and FSOne. Which one has the best RC simulation, though? I don't care about the graphics and I don't care about the quality of the models. I care about the accuracy of the physics. I don't want something that looks like an eye candy, I want something that will be the best possible simulator for training when I'm not flying.
What do you guys think?

Add Aerofly Pro to your list.
And take FSOne off it. Unless they have done a major rewrite it has just about the worst interface of any piece of software I have ever used.

I've never heard of Aerofly Pro. (Not sure how to edit the poll option to add it).

How can I edit the poll options, I can only edit the post. If enough people think that aerofly is good then it should be up there.

I don't think you can.
But you should go by what is posted more than the poll results.
One problem with polls like this is that not many will have used more than 1 or 2 of the sims. Or (like me) might not have seen the latest version.
FWIW, based on what I have seen on here Phoenix is one of the best for helis and Aerofly is one of the best for learning 3D with planes.

Which one do you think is the best? How could anyone be able to say which sim is the best or has the best physics if they haven't owned and "played with" every sim on you list (and several that aren't)? If you've tried the sims set-up on the kiosks at your Local Hobby Shop, read all of the reviews and opinions, the next step is yours.
The best sim out there is the one your going to use. It doesn't matter if it has the best graphics or the best physics or the most amount of flying sites or aircraft. If you don't use it it's not going to do you any good. Buy the sim that you like the best, the one that works the best with your computer system. That's the one you'll use and that's the one that you will gain the most benefit from. Unless you plan to use the sim as a video game all that matters is that you use it and by doing so improve your skills.

Well, I use FMS because that's what I've seen in every hobby shop I went to. They had others, but that one was setup on their workstation. Plus, it was included with the sim radio control from nitroplanes.... I like it, but the dynamics are not top notch.

I have flown FMS, RealFlight and AFPD, and I like AFPD the best as it gives the best "feel" for flying an RC plane. I have upgraded to RF4.5 but have not toyed with it much, but based on one "check flight" it appears that the flight model is the same and so AFPD is still the winner IMO.

You will not be dissappointed with the physics for airplanes in FSOne. The graphics may not compare favorably to the others, but the airplane physics is superb. I use Phoenix for heli's, but always switch over to fsone for planes.
The only problem is the looming question of will they ever again update fsone? Sucks that they are not updating it, but I'm still glad I have it.

Aero Fly PD is amazing! aircraft flight is as close as you need to learn and the planes are customizable .
