I have just got hold of some plans for 3m Stepp 3, which has the ability to use scissor style spoilers. I have done some investigating for purchasing some, they are a little on the expensive side.
Has anyone jump in feet first and designed their own. They dont look too difficult to construct?
If anyone has some references, pictures or links, that would be grand!
The picture are of the design i'm looking for, these are from the Multiplex website.

i have a pr of spoilers like your pic and im wondering if they sell seperate pcs for them example: they show a detailed photo on how to take them apart to make the installation eazyer,,,,if you could just buy the trouf and the mechanics the rest would be quite eazy to make
the spoilers work great but they are a bit on the cheap side, mine needed to be bent [straightened] to close properly, they worked fine on the ground but the air flow pushed them back enough that they would get jammed
if i had to do it all over again,i would buy some of the cheaper, top and bottom blade type,in fact they would be a lot eazyer to build using two blades and a cam???

Keep in mind that they come in 2 lengths. If your building a 3M plane, go for the longer set.

Hey thats one nice looking aircraft, what is it?
Yep those pics i got of the multiplex site as well.
I was actually trying to find some plans or how to's to build my own spoilers.
$46.00 converted to AUS$ = about $120.00 plus freight.
All of the spoilers that are available in Oz are similar to the Multiplex ones.

It's a Victory C RES from NSP. I have since changed the fuselage and tail feathers to use one from an Addiction I drilled special by Fred Sage. It's a full house open class sailplane that they sell without the wing control surfaces cut. I had to figure out the angles and cut the wing for the polyhedral joints.

Thanks Doc! I tried to access the MultiPlex site and it didn't work or I got the wrong one.

Just tried it. It was slow but it came up.
Also try... http://www.multiplexrc.com/home.html
Then click on 'Accessories' and then 'R/C Parts'.

Whoops, Sorry , I meant I had a little trouble with the European site. I got on the USA site and ordered the spoilers for my Minimoa. Thanks again!

I think you'll love them.
I flew (and still fly) a lot of the regular RES with the traditional hinged surface spoilers. I then started flying full house planes and loved the way the flaps slowed the plane down. When I flew my Victory I was surprised and pleased to see how these 'rising fence' spoilers did something similar... spoiled lift and slowed the plane down.

Spoilers narrow the speed range when deployed. Spoilers increase the stall speed by reducing the maximum lift coefficient of the wing. Spoilers reduce the terminal velocity of the plane by increasing total drag. The speed that the plane assumes when spoilers are deployed depends on the pitch trim of the plane within the narrowed speed range. If elevator compensation (manual or automatic) is applied the speed change with spoiler deployment may be plus or minus depending on the original trim condition and the new trim condition. If no elevator compensation is applied when spoilers are deployed during level flight, the nose will drop and the plane's speed will increase.
