Just got a Fun Foam F-16 from BP Hobbies. Its a small $5 foam profile jet that flies on a 40mm fan. I got the airframe together in 1/2 an hour. Does anybody have any first hand experience with this model. I'll get some pics soon.

I had one for a bit it was fun as an indoor flyer but needs a decent amount of room.
You need some more support especially on the nose.

Thanks. I was thinking about beefing the nose up. I got 2 for 10 dollars so I will see how the first airframe makes out. Did you use the GWS 40 fan? What motor set up did you use?

I wonder if this might do better as a pusher?

Keep us posted though... looks cool!

It would work but there is a teardrop shaped cut out in the fuse for a GWS edf-40. The cutout is under the wing and when the motor is installed, it provides some structural strength to the fuse. It looks cool but the more I think about it, I should have bought the Walkera SU- 27 that came with the fans and 2 brushed 380's for $38

I had an EDF 40 with a Feigao 12mm and 3S, on a funjet, which is the same idea, and it just flew indoors.

Use a single piece of light ply on one side of the nose. It's fun. Will roll and maybe loop.

While removing the brushed motor for the feigao BL, I busted one of the fans rotors. The dealer I use BP Hobbies is out of the rotors. Anybody else know of any good GWS dealers? If not I amy use my edf-55 or just order another edf-40 unit and attempt to remove the rotor more carefully.

All done. Just need to finish filling in the canaopy with a marker and blackening the nose. Don't have an all up weight but this bugger is light. I'm using a 3s 500 mah G-Force pack. No when its warm and calm enough we shall see if it actually flies!

I am excited to say that the F-16 flys. I took it out at 7:50 AM in the blistering cold and flew a short circuit around the local park. Climbs out strong, rolls well. I encountered low speed aileron issues as any EDF would encounter, but I believe this was compounded by the fan being diagonal to the fuse by a degre or 2 as I was able to compensate at high speed as opposed to slow flight.

Guys this little jet is great, this one is two or three years old and still flying great even in some wind. I used the castle P10 amp, 40 gws edf, feigao 5300 kv and max amps 430 mah 3s does a nice job on these products. slowdragon

Nice little red F-16. Unfortunately it was so cold, some foam on the belly cracked under the fan unit upon landing. No big deal. I will fix the foam and sandwich it with balsa, and remount the fan.

Re trimmed my ailerons by moving the links up a notch on the horns. Roll rate is much more tame for this tiny jet. I also reinforced the belly under the fan by sandwiching the foam with 1/16 balsa strips. Flys like dynamite. I can't believe this little thing flys so well. I will get some video up as soon as get a chance.

43 degrees and calm today in downstate NY. I took the F-16 out popped the pack in. Not noticing, the throttle stick was all the way up, thus initiating the programing mode for the esc. As I pulled the stick down, it went through a few chimes. I figured nothing of it. Upon re spooling the little fan up and launching, it was like a different jet. It flew with an authoritative vertical climb, which it did not have before. I woud compare its habits to a smaller Phase 3 F-16 in characteristics. In a level full throttle pass, the fan pulled off the motor. This has not happened with 10 + flights to date. No I have to find the time to post a video as I am now blown away by this little guy's performance.

I am sure changing the esc's settings had nothing to do with anything, but the performance change was like going from 15% to 30% nitro in a 1/2 A engine. Very coincidental.
