Hi Ray

Welcome. There a few of us here, hangin' out , seein' what we can stir up, so to speak (I mean traffic, not trouble). We are enjoying new scenery and old friends.
We are also found on : http://www.intlwaters.com/

We also have been made to feel very welcome there and I feel that the die-hard nitro racers are fertile ground for the exchange of racing information. I think the 100 mph barrier achievement provided a wake-up call and a newfound sense of respect for the world of electric power.
Dick and I hope to see you there as well.

This should be helpful in pulling more traffic to this forum. All garbage aside I see some great benifit in a public forum. We'll continue pushing folks your way Ray.

Hey Greg,
Don't forget Lar.
Then again, he's the one in Maui right now. To heck with him! Actually he called last night, He's going on a 30 mile bike ride today. It's all downhill, but still, that's a lot of miles to be on a bike seat!

See ya,
Dick

Hey Guys,
Can I check in here too? Looks like the knowledge base for FE boating is coming up to speed with what can be found on the electric aircraft forums of RC Groups. Iv'e been hanging around here for about a year, mostly in the aircraft forums but trying to help whenever I can. It's good to see some of you guys with more up to date knowledge on the FE world. Most of my boating activity lately has been with the big gassers so a lot of my old Astro race motors are finding new homes in aircraft. Welcome aboard all!

Experts
Just so that some of us mortals, who just like scaring the ducks, can get a better idea of the "gods" who have fallen in our midst are, how about a short introductory biography? To avoid false modesty, don't write your own;)
I've heard of Doug as a designer and builder of some of the sweetest looking boats, Dick as a many times champion racer, Ray as a manufacturer of some of the best hardware for electrics, Trent of microhydros.com.
Just 1% of their knowledge will do me fine
:)

Well Martin, I will certainly tell you what I know about some of these guys. Hopfully they will tell you something nice about me. (Don’t want to write my own bio, you know) ;)
These are the guys I know.

Doug Forrester.
Renowned maker of sawdust. Builder of extraordinary models. Doug has been designing and building longer than most of us have been walking. I seen most of Doug’s design skills first hand and having worked with him on several projects to date, I can tell you nothing leaves his hands that is not 100%.

Ray Fuller.
Grumpy old man with a big heart. Ray makes the best hardware you will ever run. It is better stronger and faster than anything out there. Always willing to help in any situation and designer of some awesome hulls He is always willing to chat on the phone but is not much for long E-mails.

Dick Crowe.
AKA Crowebar. Driver extraordinaire! Super helpful guy. I have spent several hours on the phone with Dick talking design ideas and improvements. If you want the straight goods on how a model should run and how to make it better, ask Dick. He can drive an oval track with less than a thousandth of an inch between the hull and the buoys. Not to many guys in the world as nice as Dick.
His son Colten will be a future world champion. He is already a better driver at 6 (I think he is 6) than most of us could ever hope to be.

Trent Hare.
Mr. Micro! (Boats we are talking here) I have never met Trent, but know his designs well. Trent has lead the Micro boat charge for several years. He can do more with less than any of us. His smaller boats are faster than most twice the size and with 3 times the cells. Definatly a leader in his field.

Mike N. (Twmaster)
Muddled up Mike! Mike will give you a straight answer to any question you ask. This guy has more one liners and jokes than the best comedians. Always has a great sense of humor even when times are rough.
Mike is setting up a laser cutter right now so look for him to do some cool projects in the near future.

Mike Stoumen
Motorola Mike. Mike S. loves to talk boats on the phone. Always a contender and willing to try anything to go faster. Put a radio or cell phone in Mike’s hand and he is happy! Put one of each in his hands and I think he would explode!

Greg Schweers
Another of the fastest guys. Can set up and drive a boat better than anyone. Don’t send Greg anything by mail! He waits by his mailbox for it to arrive and doesn’t get any work done! I think he lives for FE boats.

K.R.Joye
Ken is one of the nicest guys you will see in this hobby. I met him for the first time last year at the Canadian Nationals. He is a fighter on the racecourse and will do anything to keep a boat going on the water. He has a new line of hardware available that looks to be pretty nice stuff. His sons are darn good racers too. 1/3rd my age and whipping my but around the oval.

I hope that gives you a quick idea of who some of us are. You are among some of the best and most helpful guys in FE today.

Hey Dick,
I don't know what you are pushing the tunnel with these days but it seems possible that with the advances in motors (BL) in the last ten years that you might be going to fast with that old hull.
You could try a turn fin mounted on a braket at the cg of the starboard sponson. Set it out 3/8 to 1/2 inch from the sponson so the water it kicks up can make a clean exit and not lift the boat. The other option would be to build a new hull and drop the inside edge of the starboard sponson an extra 1/16 to 1/8 inch more than the original 1/8 that is shown on the plans. That would get you hooked up in the turns but may cause a little drift to the port down the straight.
Gota fly now ( literaly ) see ya later.

John

Peter,

Thanks for the kind words man. Unfortunately today I have no one liners to offer. I have just visited the 'red' background for my last time.

I am glad to see some familiar faces, er, nicknames here. Also nice to see some new folks too.

Well I too just submitted my resignation from the red side.
It seems as if the moderators over there have to get their hats custom made a super XL size.
Shame that one or two ruin it for the entire group.
I tried to wade through all the crap, but it just kept getting deeper.
Hopefully the few we have here will grow.
The good news is we took 99% of the knowledge with us.
Oh well, their loss.

Welcome Mike

Don't forget http://www.intlwaters.com/ too. I like BOTH places.
I'm particularly enjoying the synergy with the nitro racers and we've been made to feel very welcome by all.

The creative resource that is RC Groups/E Zone is breathtaking and altogether capable of keeping me reading for far too long. :D
