It may be a rebadge of the Procopter seen on youtube, A search gives it many names, Yuneek, Kyosho, etc.

I have the gear, same as the old Millennium Robocopter...

I put my old RedBull PiccoZ body on it, flies great with significantly more stability than the PiccoZ gear. Uses a 70mAh battery (same as the Minium planes) so it gets great flight times.

Worth $50? I dunno, probably. Its a step up from the Fairy/PiccoZ gear, can fly in more places than IR, and just overall feels better than the cheaper stuff.

I got one on its way, ordered it friday and it will be here on wendsday. Will give ya's an account of it when I get him up in the air, and I'll have four days off for T-day so I should have plent of oppurtunity.

Yeah I been watchin for this one since it first appeared at Horizon's website.
These little things are the only heli's I can fly, and they even seem to "want" to like an airplane does. :D
I really do like the style on this one, the 2.4 radio so I dont have range or lighting issues like I do with the IR types. Lookin forward to it. :)

I saw one at the I-Hobby expo in chicago. it flys nice, but like all 2 channel, it has no forward or reverse control. Other than that it was smooth and very responsive.

There is a video at Horizon, look for the link in the ad. It looks quite stable, way more stable than any other I've seen.
And of course they dont have any cyclic control, they weren't ment to. Thats what makes them flyable by nearly anyone, even me. :D

I'll shoot some but it has to get here first, believe me im anxious. I nearly bought the PTU when it came out, but didnt care for the "Guy in a flying suit" thing. I wanted a helicopter, and this one is and with the stability and superior radio gear of the PTU.
It also seems to be modeled after the Huges 500E, with the exception of the tail. The 500E is my favorite of the huges helis.

Yeah I be gettin a tad anxious, its due here tomorrow so ya know im gettin pumped. :D

Yes it does have a much more "Real Heli" look about it, and seems to me a marrage of the Huges 500E with a Eurocopter with it's tail like it is.
What im not so sure of though is if it has an adjustable weight on it somewhere. I cant see one in the photos, but I also cant see them not providing that. The PTU has one, and even that Delta Defender I just bought last week has one so surely they have incorperated that in this latest in this class.

Well its here and I just finished it's first flight and am recharging as I type.

WOW!!!! Is this thing stable!! I love it already, no.........I adore it thats it thats a better term. :p
Well no as I thought there's no moveable wieght but I dont think its a drawback, it flies just about the right forward speed as it is. But I did notice that if you turn right it has a tendency to speed up, and the opposite when turning left.
If I go in a big wide circle to the right it'll pick up quite a pace, and then slows down as you straighten back up. So you can speed up and slow down by the way you fly. I was making nice landings coming in in a wide right turn and then as I gave left to straighten up she nearly stopped right there right on the landing spot and was so cool looking. :p

The response to inputs is verrry smooth, not like the IR one's I've flown, even the Delta Defender isnt nearly as smooth and stable. This one is quite a bit bigger than any other 2ch micro I've seen too.
And it is sooooo nice not to worry about light getting to it or getting shadowed like the IR types. I could if the wind was at zero fly it outdoors.

My "Micro Airforce" is shaping up.

Went to visit family in Utah over the Thanksgiving weekend.

Found an amazing Hobby Town USA that gave me a demo flight of the NTU.

Best 2ch heli flight I've ever seen!

Very nice forward speed out of the box.
Very solid tail control.
Store employee flew it all around the store and landed it back in his hand behind the counter. No problem!

I think I finally found my 6 year old and my couch potato dad an awesome Christmas heli!

SH,

I like the $44.95 falling price.

I will talk to my LHS manager tomorrow.
I'm going for three of em so should get a good package price.

What shocked me about the demo flight I saw was it flew exactly like the Horizon video. When does that happen??

Yeah agreed, how many products do ya know that perform, as advertised, and right out of the box too.
Cant beat it cause nothing beats reliability, in products or people. And this thing flies reliably each an every time and exactly as its claimed to.

Well I got some video of it yesterday but I gotta do the edit thing and upload it to Vimeo. Will post a link as soon as I do.

Been holding my breath on that video.... and finally had to exhale! Ahhh

Contacted my LHS about purchasing three NTUs. Right now the price is at $43.00ea. A co-worker is also very interested in coming aboard. I'm trying to get the price down to $40.00

The last of my boys (turns 7 on Dec. 26th) has officially written his "letter to Santa"... Yep, he is going for a Millennium! :D I have five boys and he is the first to show any interest!! About time. I'm counting on this little toy to hook him. Maybe having him pose for all my heli shots helped?? ;)

Gotta admit im somewhat surprised to not see any more responses than there is so far on this little jewel.
IMO it has to be THE most stable of its type in existence, I've flown many of these little things and none of them before this one has been so easy to fly.
Also none of them up this have been anything other than the IR type, and have always been limited to a dimly lit room and even then could still get interfered with by having it's IR sensor get blocked or lose signal when getting too close to any light source. They'd even get out of range quite easily, just by being on the other side of the room.

But with the PTU & now the NTU interference is out of the picture being that they are on 2.4ghz. But it also is more than that, it's the smoothness of how it responds to control. Both to main and tail rotor control. Oh, and one more thing, IT STAYS TRIMMED.
Ok I did finally get that video up, and well its a bit long at 8min. but ya dont have to watch the entire thing of course. :p I didnt edit anything but just uploaded the raw video in its original form. The camera is stationary on a tri-pod as my friend didnt feel he could do well to do the camera work, and given what I saw of the video I talked him into taking for me a few days later I see why he said that. :D

Hmmm, I see no such setting there, and I've never set any such privacy setting if there is one.
In fact I've posted videos up from my vimeo acct here before and all have been able to view them. I haven changed anything at Vimeo since I signed up. In fact I've not changed anything from the default setup since I signed up.

Heh, heh, ok never mind, I finally found where that is set and changed it.
Geez, I never ran into this before, and never had to set that.
Sorry, but should be viewable now. ;)

Hmmm, upon looking at settings for the other videos I've uploaded there, there the rest of them are all public. This is the only one that turned out that way...........wierd. Oh well. ;)

SabreHawk, i don't know why but vimeo has every video that you upload as private. It happens to me too. I just click on the video that i want to embed here and go up tools at the top right and click settings. When you click settings, on the left side is privacy. Click it and underneath "The video is..." check public instead of private.
Hope this helps

Edit: Opps you beat me too it. haha

Nice video by the way. Looks very precise.

SabreHawk,

Appreciate your efforts! Thanks :D

Enjoyed the unedited version.
Talk about relaxed flying.
This heli has raised the bar on 2ch machines.
I've been searching all year for a 2ch. like this.
You summed it up very well...

"IMO it has to be THE most stable of its type in existence, I've flown many of these little things and none of them before this one has been so easy to fly.

Yeah, thats the word friends, precise. The control is just that, precise and smooth.
I managed to fly it through a hoop a while ago, its a grab bar on a spa that I been flying over. With the spa cover on of course, but I am curious as to what kind of air blast effect it would have over water but too chicken to try so far. LOL! :D But let me get more comfortable and I'll be taking the cover off the spa and flying it over it to see. :p

SabreHawk
Dec 06, 2008, 03:35 PM
Ahhh ok here's another one, this time in the Spa room. Thought it'd be nice to show how easily it can be landed in your hand. Most any other i've played around with this is hard to do cause they wont stay stable long enough for you to let go the stick and reach out for it.
This ones a much shorter video too.

is the motor the same as a picooz?

does big mean heavy here?

SabreHawk
Dec 06, 2008, 05:40 PM
Hmmm, well as best I can see without opening them up is that they are the same motor/gear and such. Whats different than any other is the flybar, it's much longer, and it's wieghts are much more aerodynamicly shaped.
And as I have seen with others, it's the quality of that flybar/stabilizer and its design that spells out its stability.
Obviously they have hit on a very good design on the Milennium heli, and it's earlier PTU cousin. But I think also that there is something in the NTU's electronics that has to with it's stability as well.

Oh, and I do suppose it must surely be a tad heavier than the PiccoZ types, it would have to be as there is simply a lot more foam there it seems.
But then I havent had it opened up and looked inside, heck it may be mostly hollow for all I know and be about the same wieght as the smaller PiccoZ's.

Hmmm, lets see according to the specs on the box it wieghs in at .4oz, or if you will 12gr. What does the PiccoZ wiegh? I'll look it up and see.

Edit: Well I couldnt find the exact wieght, but the ad at Silverlit says its below 10gr. So the NTU is heavier by probably 2-3gr, but I think it flies better than any of'em out there. Bar none. ;)

Ironbowser
Dec 06, 2008, 05:43 PM
the picooz weighs in at just over 11 grams. i'd inagmine the extra flybar makes up for that.:)

Well so there ya have it, only 1gram difference. Yep I'd say the engineers earned their pay on this one.

There is one thing though that it doesnt have that the little Havocs and PiccoZ has, is a strobe. I do miss that. Maybe I could take one of the strobes from one of these cheapo IR ones I have and install it on the NTU perhaps somehow.
Hmmm, good excuse to at least take one of'em apart to see just how that might be done, and gives me yet another excuse to go buy another NTU just to have a backup in the event I screw things up. :D

Sabre,

LHS word... As long as they don't advertise the price, they are fine. If they feel like giving the product away, they are free to do so.
This LHS has been in business for about 25 years.

StCalvin,

Nonsense! It's called capitalism: " an economic system characterized by private or corporate ownership of capital goods, by investments that are determined by private decision, and by prices, production, and the distribution of goods that are determined mainly by competition in a free market!"

LHS manager is on a set salary.

The post above is correct, the hobby shop could give it away or sell it for $1 if they wanted to. Horizon (along with Nintendo...and Sony...and Apple...) have MAP which is Minimum ADVERTISED Price. The hobby shops cannot advertise a product for lower than MAP (ie., on websites, in print, etc), but they're open to sell it for whatever price they want. This is very different than what many folks consider to be "price fixing".

Been searching for a thread like this ever since I saw the NTU being released. I have the PTU and it's fun to zip around the house with it. I thought I read the NTU is supposed to have a bit more stability/control and for $50 RTF, you can't beat the price. After reading the overwhlemingly positive comments, I may have to act on my impulse and get one of these. My poor PTU has a lot of foam-safe CA on it.

Cool Mikey, I say go for it you wont be dissatified. :)

Well the company I work for had a tree trimming party at our corperate office in Bellevue and I took the little NTU with to have some flying fun around the offices.
It was a BIG hit! Everyone including the office gals and even the caterer serving the food were impressed and constantly asked questions. And these are all non-flying folks. They all wanted to know where to get one, and yes even one of the three partners who own the company wanted one.

Mine is still in one piece and undamaged except for a few little dings where I get myself caught in a corner every now and then and have to ditch.
It is extremely stable, and flies so well and the price is only ten dollars more than any of the IR types and yet is 100 times more stable and plus interference free.

This weekend I'll be doing some more video work using a head mounted camera I have and hope to do some "chase cam" stuff. That's where I just follow it as I fly it around taking video with the camera mounted on my head.
Might be able to get my nieghbor who also has one to get in on the act and get some of mine chasing his, that should be cool. :p

Well I have noticed that you do really have to work at it sometimes, especially the first 20 times or so to get thet charge plug plugged in all the way. It's really tight. This may well be why some may not be getting a charge light, and no charging taking place. It aint plugged in all he way.

Thats a cool landing on the tree Babbel, very nice! But, I'd not let it fall down those stairs too much, may not be damaged yet but give it time.

I'm glad it's really tight. My Havocs were so loose that they wouldn't charge after a month or so.

T rx,

The few different Hobbytowns that I've been in while traveling (Utah/Idaho) have had em. They could order one for ya no prob.

I've been taking a few vacation days and flew the crap out of mine, sorry... my son's, NTU today.

I've dreamt of a 2ch. heli that flys like this for many years. A slow steady pace just like in the Horizon promo vid. Perfect for indoor precision flight and landings. It speeds up a little on the right turns and slows down nicely for the left ones. It can fly straight-line no problem. Holding it in your fingers for take-off, it will fly out with no tail movement. Take-offs from a surface always produce 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 revolutions before it stabilizes. It's light weight makes it super crash resistant. I've tried my best to destroy it attempting hundreds of impossible landings. It just won't break. When it hits something hard in flight it goes crazy and will not recover. Appears to be caused by the long fly bar paddles striking the boom. Mine has done excellent on rechargeable NiMH cells in the transmitter. I believe the fuselage will seperate easily in half when it comes time to mod. I've got extra micro LiPoly packs, 1mm carbon fiber tube for the main shaft and micro bearings ready to go. The $40.00 I paid for mine was a steal. The 2.4 ghz radio link is super solid. My flight times are easily 10 to 12 minutes. The pics are of two back to back spot landings I hit today from about 25 ft. away. This machine is Sweet!

ps...Just timed a flight at 11min. til no fly. Another 25 sec. til motor cut-off.

I think it's just the price you pay for light weight.

The EPP on the Alien Saucer is way heavy.

Uhhhmmm, yucky and sticky? How ya figure? I dont feel or see any of that, maybe you didnt wash yer hands after eatin that peanut butter & jelly sandwich. :D

No seriously I dont see this at all about this type of foam, and EPP doesnt dent so much yes your right but its ugly to start with. Looks like a bunch of hocker snot melted together. May not feel sticky, but it sure looks it :D

Actually I cant think of anything it needs other than something to make it look bettter. Not that I think it looks bad, I think it looks great.
What I think it needs is a strobe, and a search lite.

Yes do make sure that there is no wind period, it wont go well if there is.
Although you will probably have to live with some air movement, and will have to live with whatever direction the NTU will want to generaly fly in.

Whats cool though is that under the right condition it can hover(pointing into oncoming air.) And it's fun to "use" the air movement. Yeah she can go sideways, backwards. :D
This video I took the other day outdoors flying it is done with a head mounted camera(ATC2000). The video quality isnt great, but it was cool to video in this manner.

Well my little friend is still goin strong with countless flights. Am still enjoying it imensely.
I got another little friend, a 1/28th scale 65' Ford Mustang.(Radio Shack Xmods) I hope to get some video of a chase scene. Though the Mustang can certainly outrun the heli, the NTU can "cut it off at the pass". :D

Very cool, thanks for the pict!....you know the scale size is about right.
Still flying mine....Best single blade heli I own!!!!...I don't even fly piccos anymore!

Yeah rodger that dude, actually I think it is the same scale the more I look at the two together.
And hey this little Mustang is a rip-snortin machine, does some real cool spin outs, and donuts. Heck I need a track for it really, it's barely breathin runnin round the Spa room. But its the only place with a floor smooth enough to run it on. :)

Still loving this toy!

I'm at approx 150 flights now.

Going strong.

Hitting my spot landings more and more.

I keep waiting for something to break so I can slice it open.

No luck.

Mine just won't break.

Have ya'll seen this review?

Well I too wouldnt mind splitting it open cause I got some led's I wanna try and add to it for a strobe or search light.
So, I think im gonna go buy another one to fly and take the first one apart.

Plus I want to also to see about battery replacement for a friend who ruined his by ending up on a carport roof and left it up there overnight.
Needles to say his battery is now weak and though it still works, it's capacity is crap and power is very weak compared to mine.

Sabre,

I have a couple extra 100mAh cells.

Happy to donate to the project.

I can provide measurements if you are interested.

One of them is a Zippy 100mAh 20C pack.

So my 7 year old son decided to sell me his Christmas Millennium. :D

I think he noticed that I was the only one flying it.

Paid him $20.00 ... all in ones. ;)

Problem is I also paid $39.95 for it when I bought it the first time.

Approx 200 flights and strong as ever!

Hello Everybody,

I just bought the Millennium NTU and I had so much fun to fly with this little Helicopter through my living room.
But after I charge it, the Millennium NTU don't start anymore :( .

I pull the throttle stick down to the bottom of its travel and turn on the transmitter.
After that i turn on the Millennium NTU powerswitch.

than the red light on the Millennium start flashing.
and after a few seconds the Millennium is ticking like a clock and the red light is still flashing.

What can I do?
I need some help :(

Hello Everybode,

for your info:

i solve the problem.
The Millennium has lost the binding from the transmitter.

I just switch it on during i was pushing the left trim and the transmitter bind with the Millennium automaticly

RCBABBEL

NTU & transmitter turned off.

While holding down the left steering trim button, turn on the transmitter.

Release the trim button and you will hear a series of tones.

Switch on the NTU during the series of tones.

Wait for at least 2 seconds and then move the steering stick back and forth.

Binding is complete when the red LED on the NTU becomes solid.

Piece-O-Cake,

rc :)
