Hi,
I searched and searched and searched... and couldn't find any comparison between the swift 16 and the hurricane 550 even though they are same size helis.
Can anyone provide some comparative info?
Thanks

I had spent many years flying 450 sized electrics and even more flying 30 to 90 sized nitros.
My first experience with big electrics was a Logo 20 some years ago. But I was dissapointed, probably more due to the battery technology of that era then due to the heli.
After flying a friends Swift 16, a few years ago, that was only powered by a 4S/3700 pack I was impressed enough to get myself one. I installed different power systems (motors/ESC's and battery packs) and found it to be a very versatile, low maintenance and great flying heli. It was easy to set it up for gentle training type of flying or ramping it up for some pretty hard 3D.
Consequently, when Century came out with their 550SE C/F version. I also got one of them, and have been equally impressed.
It seems their experience with big nitro and gas powered helis have really served them well in making these smaller electrics.

Tell us more about your Logo 20, Cyclick. What motor and power system did you use in it ? what year whas it that you ran it ?.Logos where great pioneers of the electric age back when. It seems these days lipo power is so easy it makes any heavy, poorly designed heli able to take off.
Since the OP was aking for a comparison between the swift and the hurricane 550 ( a much newer and lighter model than the logo 20) perhaps you could show the relevant differences between the two models.

I think a better way might be to look at the Swift threads and 550 threads. That way you get a look at each heli not just 1 vs the other.
They will still post what they like and don't, but the 2 are totally diff helis ans the Swift is a little smaller.

The strange thing is that you can find comparisons between almost any two helis, but not between these two which are the same size.
I found that the only way to compare between any two helis is by finding someone who had the opportunity to fly the two...

My experience with the Logo 20 was many years ago, so I can't remember what components it had.
I do remember that the quality of the plastic and the fit and finish of it seemed relatively good.
That is why I was impressed with the Swift 16, it was comparable but at a substantially lower price at the time. I think that this has forced Mikado to lower their prices substantially since then.
Fred,
I agree this is a 550 size heli thread so we should now keep it to that.

Were they yours?
Did you build each and set them up?
What power systems and pinions were in each?
What radio and gyro?
Where they using the same blades?

Thanks. Could you provide more info and reasoning from your personal experience?

Indeed, Let's hear about the setup on the H550; I have not seen one in person. They look good in the pics, I am intrigued. They say it is very light, whats your RTF weight ?.Have seen lots of swifts locally and abroad performing well for the average joe.
