They need the disclaimer because of the lawyer roadkill.

Every time I think it would be fun to start into model railroading, I buy a bottle of paint and then watch it dry and I'm cured.

Your not doing the right kind of model trains, this is my latest G scale live steam I built.

Thanks
Steve

I _AM_ doing the right kind (for me, at least). NONE!

I have some really good friends who are into them, one who manufactures brass HO-sized engines. He has a G layout outside, but I still have to say, I'd rather watch the paint dry on one of my planes or boats.

Steve that engine is super looking and live to boot. Very nice work and the layout looks great too what I can see of it.
Personally I love trains and hope to have another layout sometime if I can find a house I can afford. No room in this R/V at all.
As long as were on a little railroad side track here I for one would love to see any pics of your layouts and those of you who like to watch paint dry can see what others are up to. Besides running the trains is secondary to building the layout. Kinda like building boats at that. HA!

Um, model RC boaters are NOT one's to complain about model railroading... :D

They both require about the same amount of reactive skill to do. Only the high speed boats really challenge the reflexes and driving ability.

The point of model railroading is realism and managed complexity, not 'activity' while operating the trains. It's kind of like computer programming. Once you have a finished program, it just does its thing. It's building it that is most fun. The more complex, the more satisfaction you have when it runs right... the bigger the nightmare when it doesn't... LOL!

I know this is kind of a late reply. The best model railroad forum is The Railwire at http://www,therailwire.net Attached is a photo on my N Scale Layout. Nate Goodman (Nato).

I am not bias, I just don't like trains. But I can admire craftmanship.

There are a lot of skills that many scale modellers could learn from many of the railroad boys.

The detailing of modelled tools, boxes, workshop/railyard hardware and other items I have seen has been fantastic. Also the weathering I have seen on ship models is nowhere near up to the standard of the rail models I have seen.
